"Thats about the best we can hope for then, keeping them down to two losses and nil for 3 in the goals column?!"

You just said we could/should of scored and they shouldn't, so to answer your question, No obviously not!

We played well like we do most games the rub of the green has not gone our way, simples. Look forward to the rest of the season with encouragement why not!

watched the highlights last night for the first time as I was away.

Always difficult to get a true measure of the performance however we appeared to have more decent chances than we've had against them in the last couple of years, put together!

Sakho had one of those days- should have got two

Kouyate looked like he had a great game as did Adrian

And there goal was not only offside, they'd tried the same move a couple of times earlier.

We lost to them , again, and they were probably at their weakest of the season with no Matic and post-the wembley match.

Thats about the best we can hope for then, keeping them down to two losses and nil for 3 in the goals column?!

Agree with most of that. Very enjoyable match just marred by a loss when we deserved at least a point.

I would say though, like you, I thought our full backs played well but I was a little disappointed in some of Jenko's final balls.

And, also for me, was one of Downings quietest performances. He looked jaded and I'm sure he pulled put of a few challenges.

Apart from that I was proud to come out of the ground last night. We gave them a fucking good match. And by the look of Mourinho's celebrations at the end he knew it too.

Nolan was very good yesterday evening, our fullbacks were outstanding and Sakho and Downing maintained a threat throughout. Thoroughly enjoyed the match, if not the result.

as per ludo & passer,,,

good to see us beat man city, liverpool at home and draw with man utd - arsenal, chelsea and the yids extremely fortunate to leave with all 3 points. the so called top teams have had a real battering from us at home..

When their keeper spilled that shot and dribbled across the six yard box that must've been the first time this season that Nolan was running too FAST.

Nolan's last two games for us havnt been too bad. Not great but a lot better than hr had been.

Quite amazing the team that turned up last night to the one that played on Saturday. How can two performances be so different?

Would be great if Nolan could play like that most games. After spells out his first game back he hasn't look too bad like he puts in a performance to justify his place. Sadly, in subsequent games he looks so bad and off the pace that's why his place is called into question.

Nolan was very good and deserves to stay in the side if he carrys on like that

Re: West Ham v Chelsea - Official Match Thread 0-1 FT
ludo - I agree with that too. In the Chelsea, Arsenal and Man Utd games I have never known us put these teams under such constant pressure and have them so worried about playing us.

It is just small slip-ups and bad luck that have stopped us picking up what we deserved from any of these games - but it has still been hugely enjoyable to watch. Infinitely preferable to the home win against Hull last year which was the worst game of football I have ever seen,

It is small margins that are making the difference in these games now. Hopefully we can learn from them and also take this kind of form into the games against smaller teams to have more consistency next year. If we want to be challenging for Europe then we need to keep up our form of the first half of the season all the way through. It is a big ask but if we can sign Song and jenkinson and add one or two other top players in summer then we can make further strides next year.

Very similar to the Arsenal game.... haven't enjoyed two games that we have lost more.... I would far rather watch games like, despite the loss that than the draws against Villa, West Brom etc...

Re: West Ham v Chelsea - Official Match Thread 0-1 FT
1964 agreed. I though Nolan was one of the best players on the pitch and if he could play like that every week I would have no complaints about him starting.

The only real complaint I had about the game (apart from the fact that we didn't seem to get any decisions from the officials all night) was that Jenkinson's crosses were often lousy and went straight out. However, that could have been because the giant that they had in goal seemed to take anything in the air. He is a hell of a goalkeeper. Also, being critical, Sakho's finishing was not up to his usual standard - especially with the free header in the first half.

Those criticisms aside, we played with passion and pride last night and the atmosphere in the second half was rocking which was good as he first half was a bit flat. I couldn't have asked for anything more the team last night in terms of effort. It just frustrates me that we cannot bring that kind of performance to every game.

Most amusing moment of the night for me: Chav corner getting a little clap from Didier Drogba after they sung "Terry wouldn't let you on the train" at him when he was warming up. Very funny chant and, to be fair to Drogba, a class response.

do you think Nolan night be better at the back of the diamond rather than the front of it ?

Re: West Ham v Chelsea - Official Match Thread 0-1 FT
The whole team played their guts out last night.

Nolan put a shift in. Allardyce didn't make any silly subs.

With a bit more luck and a better linesman and ref we would have got at least a point from that.

A travesty we didn't.

Give me losing 1-0 every single time over being a Cheslea cunt though, fucking woeful support once again...

Anyone think that Marriner saved Hazard from a sending off like Noble was at Spurs?

Late in the second half Hazard scythed Noble down, in a tackle as bad as any last night, but the ref knew he was already on a yellow.

In comparison to his recent performances he was world class last night. That is actually a compliment and a dig all in one. If he keeps playing like that then he has every right to be in the first team.

I agree with what you say as a PL midfielder he is average. But last night I personally thought he was our man of the match.....Maybe I could argue between him and Kouyate. Not sure how Noble got it.

My Chelsea mate was shocked at how many times he went into challenges and came away with the ball. He then did the simple thing with it and got it out to the ball players. It was a very accomplished and encouraging performance. He now needs to continue doing it week in week out.

So disappointing to see our recent run of form when we all know we can play that way. Such a shame.

So after Nolan's class performance last night is everybody that goes happy for him to stay in the team for the season??
