Had a look across to the subs warming up when Valencia went down early. We had Jarvis, Cole and Nene. Made me realise how poor our squad is.

Need 4 or 5 top players in the summer. Think we
really need a ball playing attacking midfield player - similar to berkovic and benayoun.

will - chelsea knew they were in agape against us last month. they left the pitch battered and bruised and very lucky to come away with a win.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho: "The way they play, nobody is better than them. My players were fantastic. We couldn't kill the game and these three points are massive for us.
"

You obviously weren't at the game against Chelsea last month?

Thank god you're back spouting the same shit about the same person. I was getting worried you'd topped yourself.
I would hate your mum to find the body

Noble is one of the MAIN problems in our team, if people fail to see that God help them.

He holds on to the ball so long that he sometimes looks like a poor bronze football statue.

Probably not right after we scored it certainly as soon as they got a foothold in the game which was probably 15/20mins in

BFS doesnt guarantee safety. Its fucking stupid to say such a thing.

Its just as easy to say that Howe would guarantee a top 10 finish in the PL if his team had 5 or 6 of our best players.

Can't say I noticed either. I did notice we couldn't get out odour own half though midway through the first half. Then I thought we must be trying to just counter attack, until we got to counter attacks that were laughable. Then I thought we are just shit.

You got it right Norflundon.

If We Were Practicing And Set To Play At Keeping The Ball, It Would Look All Different

I don't really get this fixation you keep banging on about 'mobility'
Yesterday we started with a diamond and sakho and Valencia off him then as soon as we score we went to a 451 with Downing and Valencia wide
Kouyate must be one of the quickest central midfielders in the division Downing is reasonably quick Valencia is very quick song has a bit of pace I'd on regard noble as not being quick but he gets about the pitch and probably has the best legs in the team

The simple reason our ball re tension is shit is because the players are not instructed and coached to keep it all costs

You only need to look at a Stoke team that two years ago were even more direct than us who now have a different coach with a different philosophy but largely the same playing staff now play a pretty decent brand of football
Simple fact is our manager is not capable of coaching the football most of us want to see he clearly values experience over ability

Re: West Ham v Stoke - Official Match Thread 1-1 FT
It seemed that as soon as we scored, BOTH Enner and Sakho pulled back and we were left with nobody up front. WTF was that all about?

ATHammer 2:15 Sun Apr 12
Re: West Ham v Stoke - Official Match Thread 1-1 FT
Why was Downing playing and why did he stay on the pitch? Clearly he "doesn't like it up him" which is what you get from Stoke. Consistently goes missing against hard teams and stunk the place out.
Why were Valencia and Sakho playing so far apart? Two up front should be precisely that.
Why was Noble playing higher up the pitch than Song? Could it be his speed of thought?
Song wasn't playing well but Nolan wasn't going to (and didn't) positively change the game offensively or defensively. He actually created more space for the Stoke midfield!
Why take off Valencia when he was clearly troubling the Stoke Defense (Albeit sporadically and often outnumbered due to being isolated.)
Whatever the short comings of the playing staff, and there are some, the above are all poor management decisions which cost us a home win.

Re: West Ham v Stoke - Official Match Thread 1-1 FT
ball retention in the last two games has been shocking.

We give the ball away so cheaply, so easily, consistently - we barely won a goal kick from Adrian all day yesterday , in many cases we didnt even put a player to contend the ball - this a basic football skill which we dont appear to have.

Stoke looked like they always had an extra player in every position yesterday- thats down to the lack of mobility we have,

I think we're kidding ourselves we have a good squad- as SIr ALf says Plan B worked for while however we've been found out hence the slump - I think we need five new first team players at least
