We will have to wait for Payet and Lanzini
I think they were saying the Watford game on Sept 10 might see Lanzini ready.
Part of the reason I like Antonio wide right is that he provides a contrast to those two and makes space for them with his power and pace.
We are pedestrian and lumpen without them

I've been saying it for ages, Reid is on the decline. And in a team trying to play football, his aimless lumps cause more problems than they solve, because the ball just keeps coming back.

I'd seriously go with Kayoute and Ogbonna at the back, it gives us pace and much better distribution.

I think apart from Ayew every player we have got in is to strengthen the squad. That very rarely makes the team better. Every player you bring in should be to strengthen the team and the player he replaces becomes the squad player

Bilic get your fucking finger out.
This was abysmal full stop.

Regarding another summer arrival, Sofiane Feghouli, Bilic said the Algerian winger was out due to a slight problem sustained in pre-season.

"Feghouli picked up something against Juventus which we didn't think was an injury and he trained for a week, but he missed tonight because he is injured," he added.

Anyone know what is wrong with Feghouli and how long he's going to be out for?

Re: ⚽ Chelsea v West Ham - The Official Match Thread FT 2-1
Apart from the obvious right back issue I'm also worried about how we break teams down who sit back against us.
Chelsea are one of the few top teams who do the unthinkable and sit back at home. That hasnt changed since Mouhrinho's first spell and its the reason why they rarerly lose at home.

The difference Payet made coming on was light and day. You need a play maker who can hold the ball and play in congested areas to unlock teams that sit back.

My priority for this window would have been someone like that. Otherwise Caroll is useless because he cant hold the ball / dribble or create anything on his own.

It also means the ball doesnt keep coming back to us.
I know we have lanzini and payet but we need more of that type of player.

I think Bilic thinks Tore and Fagouhli are those players but from what I've seen they'll get skinned alive in this league. Its too fast for them. You saw Tore's face when he lost a battle to one of Chelsea;s defenders. He looked like "what the hell is going on?".

Moses is better than anything we have bought but we didnt bother buying him. Song on form is better than Nordtveit. Sahko even is better than Caroll when on form.

I just think we should go for classy players and not work horses who do a job. Our best teams have been with technically gifted players. Not just runners and big target men.

Early days but Apart from keeper position Chelsea were better all over the pitch.

Slav had a shocker

Rest of team werent much better. No tactics to try and create goalscoring opportunities....passing sloppy and Chelsea were first to every second ball. Fair play Conte set his team up very well but that was a very very bad performance.

I think we lose out 2 ways by playing Antonio at RB. It's becoming painfully obvious he isn't a defender but we also miss his considerable presence up front. He weighed in last season with a good number of goals and assists when he was playing further upfield. We are missing that at the mment, particularly with Lanzini absent and Payet just working his way back to full fitness.

Re: ⚽ Chelsea v West Ham - The Official Match Thread FT 2-1
I'm fucked off with this Antonio at RB bollocks.
Everyone can see he is wasted there and as others have said when Ayew went off push Antonio up and Byram at RB was the obvious decision but Bilic seems blind to it.

I don't think they defended badly but Reid hoofed it to nobody to often, this was giving the team no time to get up and support Carroll. The midfield three were absymal, I can't see them working as a three, much the same as kouytate noble and obiang last season.

Even Keith Hackett just said on Talksport that Costa should have been sent off - and said it was a straight red !

Re: ⚽ Chelsea v West Ham - The Official Match Thread FT 2-1
We missed Lanzini and Payet two players who keep the ball ... Our midfield were fucking terrible and Carroll isolated as many predicted

Re: ⚽ Chelsea v West Ham - The Official Match Thread FT 2-1
I don't think our defence (Antonio aside) was the problem at all, and Ogbonna would not have changed that.

The 3 midfielders in front (Noble, Nordtveit and Kouyate) did not do a very good job and left them exposed for large parts of the game and Chelsea were pretty much all over us.

To only concede 1 goal in open play was not a bad effort considering.

I'm not sure about Reid any more. The occasional fantastic block or last ditch tackle. As with Ginge his lack of pace also means that we defend deeper which is contributing to the forwards being isolated. I'd be tempted by oggy and Oxford in games where we are the better side so we can get in their faces.

lincshammer 10:10 Tue Aug 16
Re: ⚽ Chelsea v West Ham - The Official Match Thread FT 2-1
We missed Ogbonna last night, loads of problems were coming from the fact that both centre halfs distribution was shit, particularly Reid. He just kept smashing long straight balls up to Carroll, absolute back pocket stuff for Terry and Cahill with the midfield three and wingers offering zero support, was genuinely like the bad old days under Fatso.

Hoping we put it right on Sunday, we can't be that bad again surely!

Re: ⚽ Chelsea v West Ham - The Official Match Thread FT 2-1
Thought the new left back, Masuaku, was a positive from yesterdays shower. Not much chance to get forward too often but defensively looked good.

Re: ⚽ Chelsea v West Ham - The Official Match Thread FT 2-1
Carroll had no service last night, nor did anyone get near to him to help him out or make runs. Easy to point the finger at him but that game was lost in the midfield and shape of the team.
