Texas:

Quote from the Chjelsea match report in The Telegraph.

"In the battle in midfield, Mark Noble came out on top over N’Golo Kante;"

But what do you want him to fucking do? Ping a 60 yard ball every time he gets it? Or a slide rule pass to put someone through on goal every time he gets it.

Sunderland couldn't live with Noble and Obiang in the battle on Saturday. Each time they got the ball Obiang or Noble broke it up. But when they get the ball if they have no forward options what do you want them to do? Just kick it forward for the sake of it.

Often after a skirmish they'd get the ball and the only option is to just knock it ten yards sideways to someone with a bit of craft. You have to keep possession to make things happen.

Noble rolls his sleeves up and grafts every game and people like you just pull him to pieces. If he has no options then maybe you should look a bit further up the field for the problem.

Oh. So you watched the whole game but still everything Noble did was slow and sideways?

Ok then.

The main problem is the amount of time Noble takes to release the ball. He has a strange habit of running towards the player he is passing to. This means that the poor bastsrd receiving the ball has oppo players swarming around him.

Duncan Watmore ..... I am guessing he is the only current Premier League footballer with a first class honours degree in economics and business management.
Is quick and tricky and didn't think they made the most of him. Will be one who attracts interest when they get relegated.

Was typical Moyes that he took off him and Khazri to RESPECT THE POINT while they wasted time instead of going for the win.

Russ - agree about Obiang's good attitude. Sakho, take note.

To get back to the game.

I couldn't believe that Moyes took off Duncan Wharton (excuse spelling if wrong). I'd never seen this lad play before but form about 20-25 mins in fucking bossed the game for them and was superb. Reminded me of an in-form Scott Parker, absolutely fantastic player is this lad, should play 90 mins every game for them.

He was everywhere, pressing our midfielders and wing backs and always positive in use of the ball. A posh Steve Lomas.

It was Cantona that described Deschamps as a 'water carrier', not Zidane. And even then that was part bitterness that Deschamps, as captain, made it clear he didn't want the silly fucker anywhere near the national side.

I think also Obiang has to take a lot of credit for the way he has conducted himself since he has been here. He was obviously aware of his own ability and it must've been frustrating for him last season to see us doing well and not being involved as much as he'd like. But he just kept his head down, kept working, kept his fitness and was there to be called on when we needed him.

Now he has got his reward and I suppose what I am saying is he has sort of made himself a 'key' player.

Fair play to him and long may it continue.

Well, ok. Maybe second. But then Payet is only as good as how much ball he gets. Obiang is the player that breaks it up and gives it to him. Bit like as Zidane described Deschamps as the "Water Carrier".

I mean, it's no good having a Ferrari if you don't have the keys is it?

Whilst I don't agree with him being the first name on the team sheet I would give him 3rd!

Behind Payet (1) and Lanzini (2)..

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Sunderland - The Official Match Thread FT 1-0
Noble sees some pretty good forward passes and makes them.

If you're watching on a stream you need to fill in what you're not seeing (you know, what's not in that window surrounding the ball) with your imagination.

My guess is that a lot of the time Noble passes sideways it's because the movement in front of him is not creating the opportunity for a decent pass.

Then it's far better to pass sideways than waste possession with an Allardyce-style percentage ball, hoping it will bounce around a bit and fall to one of our lot.

Russ

I too thought Noble was excellent at his job on Saturday. It's a lazy view to say he only passes sideways.

Noble takes responsibility time and time again, regardless of how well or badly the team are playing. He knows when to up the tempo and he knows when to slow it down. You can tell Payet looks to him as much as Noble looks to Payet.

Anyone who doesn't notice our captain's valuable attributes should stick to taxi driving and window licking.
