bbb, it sounds odd but we might benefit from the other team having more of the ball. Then the other team invite us on or set up in their away from home mode we seem to have more trouble. Stoke frustrated us for most of the game in like this.

for tottenham I think we need to have a bit more pace in the team...we'll be defending for most of the game and we'll need an outlet or players that move up the pitch quicker.. one thing that stood out against stoke was the lack of movement and pace...we've gone from gung-ho attacking to safety first, just need to tweak it a bit...hopefully zakho will be fit, if not stick fletcher up front

Randolph
Antonio reid kouyate ogbonna Cresswell

Obiang Fernándes

ayew sakho/fletcher payet

Slav got the tactics wrong again.

3 at the back is not needed when facing Bony or then crouch. Just wasting a player.

If he wants the 3 cent halves the middle player needs to bring the ball out the back. Check would be suited for that or possibly an option for Oxford.

The fact that four of our next five games are away from home will do us a favour I reckon.

Didn't create enough. No no10 to break lines and make things happen. No cm to carry the ball with purpose when Stoke were so happy to get two banks of men as they knew we couldn't break them down.

Really fear for us with the next 5 games. Can't see us not being bottom 3 at xmas

Hate to be negative gents but this is relegation form, scrapping to a draw against a similar side, narrowly beating the likes of Sunderland then getting beat by the top half sides.

Not really Dr, it's mid-table form which is where, in all likelihood, we'll end up.

There's currently 11 teams within 5 points of a relegation place. We've as good a chance of staying up as most of them and better than some.

We need to hope that Burnley start on a downward slope and Hull otherwise season 2 in the hotpoint will be Championship.

fletcher is not a premiership striker yet but currently looks the best option we have for leading the line although that is about to change if Carroll and Sakho do return after the break.

I watched him when he came on and aside from one moment when he dwelt too long on the ball, he was technically good receiving it as his control was far better than Zaza, Calleri and even Ayew who is excused since he is still getting match sharp. He ran the channels instinctively and was good with his passing.

What he lacks more anything I think (opinion) currently is physical strength and especially upper body strength. When you play a team like Stoke who were closing us down very quickly and even Antonio was struggling to turn Peters at times who was more or less body checking him.

So Fletcher is not the second coming but deserves more minutes on the pitch instead of Zaza and Calleri IMO. Perhaps at the 60 min mark. Btw, I suspect the club have now called time on Zaza anyway as he was fast approaching the number of games that trigger a sale?

Ron - It's just the theme on here ref the raw under dog, and a back handed way of slagging Zaza, Calleri, etc. Yes, he looks promising, but he has a million miles to go to be a proper PL striker.

Problem is the constant chopping and changing. If Sakho and Carroll are back for Spurs, will we even see Zaza and Calleri on the bench?

One...
Surprisingly...I agree about Calleri...at least he got into the right positions...but he fluffed his chances...

Valencia at least ran the chsnnels...was quick...and had some goal threats...compared to the rest so far this season...

Just out of interest, other than a tame header at City...has Fletcher actually had another shot in his games in the premier league?

I like the kid I just don't see why he's getting so much praise so so little impact

I still think the most impressive striker has been Calleri.

I didn't.

No doubt they'll both be dropped next game for someone else to not have a single chance

Fletcher offered more in terms of technical ability and awareness in his cameo appearance yesterday than zaza has for the past two years of his career. Hope that's the last we see of him

I wonder how Tex and Sir Alf have never had a job in football what with their 'have to be right', stubborn , in depth analysis on everything.

Upton Fart - I noticed that yesterday, because of the running track it takes an age to get the ball back into play as there weren't enough ball boys. Not a big thing but at this level it's all about 'marginal gains' and that is unprofessional.

When an ageing Peter Crouch came on they panicked, Adrian had head loss and Stoke got a point they sort of deserved, as we didn't exactly batter them.

Looked most effective when Fletcher and Antonio went up front.
