The more bandages he has the better Kouyate plays. I'm hoping he trots out at Brighton looking like a mummy.

I think considering we battled well. Noble was excellent. I actually enjoyed the game.

Palace are no mugs and an organised side now. They will stay up.

In the circumstances, it's a decent point.
Noble was immense.

I thought Zabaletta was also excellent in his midfield role. For an old git he ran all game, closed down well and put I some crunching challenges for the modern game. He managed to get one of their team injured which was nice. A throw back to the old days. Mind you he will not get away with that much as refs these days have almost ruled out physical contact in the game.

If as expected we get no one else for defensive midfield in the window, he may have to fill in for Obiang for the rest of the season.

He's definitely looked better since Moyes took over.

The skipper isn’t too bad considering his legs went five years ago.

Fair result and a good performance. We played well, had the better of the chances and defended well. Despite having more of the ball they didnt create hardly any clear cut chances.

Everyone played well, credit Kouyate and Byram who i've criticised heavily last few weeks. Thought Rice was excellent again and Mario was impressive.

6 unbeaten and if we can get one or two in today hopefully we can keep the run going and get something up at Brighton

Reid, Antonio, Obiang, Lanzini & Carroll missing from the starting line up of last seasons 3-0 win

This was just after the Payet thing blew up and..........
"In the match programme, the joint chairman David Sullivan pulled no punches: “We will NOT sell Dimitri in the January transfer market.”

With respect, I don't think that is fair. Naming what players have played or even usually play does not reflect what actual happened on the night.

3 centre backs and a defensive midfielder - yes

Mark Noble - not primarily a defensive midfield last night and in many of the best game of his career. Not on the centre backs toes for most of the night and up passing and chasing the ball.

Kouyate - definitely not playing as a DM last night. Up passing pretty well to attackers for once and making forward runs.

Cresswell and Byram - legitimate wing backs for good and bad. Cresswell get caught too far up field for the goal near the beginning and got caught offside near the end. Whether executed correctly (and it was sometimes) or not the intent was there. Bryram was similar.

Those player took part in attacking play, ie it was at least a significant part of their role to be attacking players. At least that is how I saw it.

We sadly played the best line-up available. Even our best young player hesitated a second and takes a portion of the blame for their goal, so throwing kids in because their job description is "attacking player" is not smart, in my opinion.

We did run out of gas and/or shut up shop near the end but, with baby steps maybe, we tried to attack for decent portions of that game and there were little moments of free flowing play, whatever the lineup.

Considering our terrible injury situation; it's not a bad result.

I'm not convinced that it warranted surrendering the FA Cup game at Wigan Athletic but, then again, I want to see my club win major trophies as I find it humiliating that a club of our size and fan-base is on the verge of almost four trophyless decades.

I preferred last season's result against them to be fair.
