Do you not think we are finding things difficult enough without playing with no GK?

The first half was actually ok. Not brilliant, but we were in the lead. An early second half goal for us would have probably been enough to see Bournemouth off, but looked fucking woeful after the break.

Having had a couple days to reflect on Saturday and after watching a few more games I have concluded that we were absolutely fucking dire. That was pitiful both defensively and going forwards.

They were both dog shit.

Who cares if one was more dog shit than the other?

Both of them were a fucking joke and they should be ashamed of themselves.

Thought Oggy was alot better than Balbuena saturday

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Bournemouth - The Official Match Thread FT 1-2
I don't think it helps having ARTHUR who has zero positional sense, as a result Ogbonna never knows when to stay or go, that said, not clearing the ball and giving away the free kick for their second goal was shocking.

think both centre halfs were exposed because of both full backs positionally being all over the place

I'd only keep ogbonna in over Balbuena purely for the communication side of it to help nurse Diop through the game

yes I'd go for that formation/selection except you keep Arnie up front. In the WC Hernandez played behind the main striker.

If we need work rate and energy it strikes me that there are no players in the squad with more of a point to prove on Saturday than Wilshire and Perez.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Bournemouth - The Official Match Thread FT 1-2
Pace is what Pellegrini has been saying this team will all be about, signings were made to improve that factor, yet he starts Zabaleta, Snodgrass, Noble and JACK all in the same team, the team selection was a proper balls up as far as i am concerned.

I get ARNIE had a great season last year, but he still only scored 11 goals playing most of it as a striker. We have a proper striker in CHICHA, he is going to score more than that if he is given the run.

4-2-3-1 has to be the formation - and Arnie needs now to be in one of the 3 positions.

High pressure involves work rate and pace, all the players seem to have one or the other but not both!

Yarmolenko has to come into the side now, so for me the team against Arsenal should be

Fabianski
Fredericks
Diop
Ogbonna
Creswell

Sanchez
JACK

ARNIE
Yarmolenko
Anderson

Chicha

Adrian
Antonio
ARTHUR
Rice
Balbuena
Perez
Noble

As far as the team for next goes I’d like to see

Fabianski
Fredericks Diop Ogbonna Cresswell
Wilshire Sanchez
Yarmolenko Perez Anderson
Arnie

Only reason Sanchez over Obiang is because he looked half decent when he came on, wouldn’t mind Obiang in there either - but definitely 2 deep lying midfielders.

>>> The amount of times [Masuaku] only has to move 5 yards further forward to receive the ball in a attacking position and take out an apposing player but just stands there behind him so he cant receive the ball is infuriating. He either hasnt the confidence to commit to an attack or the brain to realise the situation.

I noticed this too, but I think you have to take the player's mentality into account. He's still trying to adapt as a full-back, and is likely getting it from all sides about his defensive frailties. I saw Noble tick him off about a bit of defending in the first 10 minutes. I also noticed the first run he made ahead of Anderson, Anderson lost the ball and we were exposed. So he simply didn't make that run again in the match. It's a difficult one I think because we all want him to work out as a full-back, but we want his attacking abilities too because we so need it! I think he needs to be encouraged to attack more and we need to make sure the midfield cover every run he makes to encourage him a bit.

If Ogbonna is our "best centre back", then we're in deep trouble.

Most overrated player at the club, hands down.

Agreed, I can't see Rice playing alongside either Wilshire or Noble, he's clearly not an defensive midfielder.

I'd have him center halve with Diop. Balbuena and Ogbonna look dog shit.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Bournemouth - The Official Match Thread FT 1-2
Id like to see Obiang alongside Wilshere saturday.

Obiang can win the ball back quicker and get it to Wilshere quicker than Noble can. Also better defensively and positionally.

Ogbonna has to keep his place, he is our best CB. Didnt see Diop in pre season but surely with the pace Arsenal have up top now we need to have a some pace ourselves at the back

Kunt, son

I agree but it's the same old FRAILTIES here. The players just seem to have no conviction with the ball, far too slow in releasing it, afraid of running with it.

We miss Lanzini badly, in that sense

Think 3 cms or 3 cbs is a must from now on. Yesterday proved that we are not good enough for 442 even against an average Bournemouth side.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Bournemouth - The Official Match Thread FT 1-2
4-4-2 just doesn't work against a team like Bournemouth, especially when you have players as fucking slow as we do.

You cannot tell me that this Diop lad isn't more competent than that CUNT Ogbonna? Problem is, both him and Balbuena don't look like they can cut it at the moment

Team for Arsenal, 4-5-1

Fabianski

Fredericks
Rice
Diop
Cresswell (has to play over that cunt Arthur)

Yarmolenko
Obiang
Noble
Wilshere
Anderson

Arnautovic

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Bournemouth - The Official Match Thread FT 1-2
My two pennies....

Strange game, thought we were playing well first half and looked comfortable at 1-0. There were things we could improve but on the whole not bad.

Then second half we stopped playing and stopped attempting to defend. First goal was shocking and second even worse. Pellegrini's subs and team selection i thought didnt work out. Snodgrass starting is fine, but then when you have someone so predictable to come inside on his left foot then play Fredricks who has all the space in the world behind him to bomb into the channel and be a threat going forward. Also didnt understand taking Chicarito off or putting Sanchez on.

Down the left Anderson was frustrating, he had no interest in committing or taking on the full back. Kept coming inside and putting in a shit cross. As i was leaving in stoppage time he burst past two of their players got to the byline and put in a decent cross. Why didnt he do that in the 90 mins? Him and Masuaku between them should of been a real threat. If Arthur had a brain he would be some player. The amount of times he only has to move 5 yards further forward to receive the ball in a attacking position and take out an apposing player but just stands there behind him so he cant receive the ball is infuriating. He either hasnt the confidence to commit to an attack or the brain to realise the situation.

Also at the back think Balbuena is decent and im a big fan of Ogbonna but as a pairing they look too slow and do not track their runners anywhere near good enough. How shit must this Diop look for him not to want some pace in 3 of his back 4 when they have King, Wilson, Brooks and Fraser running at us.....

On the positives...thought Fabianski looked good again and Wilshere impressed me with his industry and switching the play. I think he displayed basic good midfield play but after watching Noble for years it felt like i was watching someone reinvent the wheel.

Onto Arsenal, pressure on both teams to get a result. Would like to see Perez start and Noble be benched for Obiang. Antonio and Fredricks i think should be in squad too. Hopefully we give it a go and can come away with something
