Perhaps the thinking behind the Ritchie sub was he was one late tackle away from a red and a three-match suspension.

Having said that, the ref was still a cunt.

i think you have to appreciate how well the back five played yesterday, i particular the centre backs. they really snuffed out most of the newcastle attacks before a shot was allowed, and we also won the second ball battle by keeping possession when breaking up attacks. rondon's a handful but diop bullied him at times. benitez also made a big mistake when subbing ritchie, i think at that moment the game was won

No mystery as such, no. More simply an admission that that was the pattern of the game overall, and I'm not convinced we had control over that aspect. Playing that shape we will struggle to control the game at this level. - that's the trade-off for the extra striker.

I don't think there was any mystery why they had more ball. We were away from home and ahead on the scoreboard after the first ten minutes.

You could add that Arnautovic chance where he rounded the keeper but couldn't find the finish or cross. Not a shot, but a great opportunity for us. Had he gone down it would have been a penalty too.

I think their best chance was where Diop lost Rondon in the box but Cresswell got across for a last ditch block. Zabaleta had a great block late in the first half as well. We stood firm and they looked toothless.

Re: ⚽ Newcastle v West Ham - Official Match Thread FT 0-3
A lot of their chances were balls out of reach of a player or ones they were stretching for.
Perez header was him coming off the goal line and trying to head it backwards. That was their best chance

We scored three, Anderson and Pea missed one on ones from 6 yds and Pea was inches away from a tap in from a ball across the box.
We had the best 6 chances of the match and the Geordies got away lightly.

Well they had a lot more of the ball and more shots. As I say, they struggled to make that tell in the match. Whereas we were lethal on the break.

Agree with Mike, was there yesterday no way were Newcastle dominant

newcastle were dominant? not yesterday, they weren't

Re: ⚽ Newcastle v West Ham - Official Match Thread FT 0-3
>>> MOTD was a joke. We won THREE fucking NIL and those cunts made it look like Newcastle were all over us and we scored 3 breakaway goals.

That was basically the pattern of the game. Newcastle weren't all over us as they clearly struggled to turn dominance into goals.

In terms of the way Pellegrini likes us to play, it was a weird game, no doubt about it.

Yes I suppose it was more about Ashley so fair points. They still managec to make our 3 nil win look unjust though.

I refuse to watch MOTD.

Bunch of cunts on there.

If it hasn't already been said, the ref yesterday was shit.

As good as banned tackling by giving Snoddles a yellow.

Yedlin is rapid; 90 pace on FIFA (according to my son) and US international.

Anderson tore him a new one yesterday.

Yes, Benitez was having a pop at Ashley, but also, indirectly having a pop at his own players, basically telling them they're not good enough. Not a good sign for them. Such a shame...

Benitez was having a pop at Mike Ashley wasn't he?

Re: ⚽ Newcastle v West Ham - Official Match Thread FT 0-3
Er, it was because Benitez himself talked about how much we'd spent as a reason for the difference in quality in attack between the sides in his post-match interview. Put your knickers back on Brenty SON, wipe yer chin.
