It's annoying that Watford are the best side we've played in 6 Premiership matches.

They should be in Division 4

Of course I would be as happy as the next to have a genuinely better player in any position, but I have no big complaints about Masuaku. I think he is doing well and prefer a defender that can attack. It’s great seeing him surging forward exchanging passes with Anderson, well worth the odd slip up the back. He is good and comfortable on the ball even when under pressure.

Agreed. There's no way to claim that Masuaku has been a success this season, though I think if anything his defending has improved overall and some performances have been good. It's just he makes too many mistakes, and we don't play to his strengths or protect his weaknesses.

I think Cresswell is still a pretty solid player, and I think Pellegrini should prefer him against better opposition. He hasn't played much yet this season really, so for me it's a bit early to be talking about a replacement in Jan. Neither option are on big wages so I think it's better to see it play out for a while than go for an expensive solution.

he's an average winger playing out of position, we need a proper left back

Re: West Ham v Watford - Official Match Thread FT 0-2
Whoever plays at left back might be exposed but some are better dealing with that than others.

Arthur's only strength is running at the opposition with the ball and the first time we saw that on Saturday was about the 85th minute.

If he doesn't do that there is no point having him in the team.

>>> Hell we ALL know we need a new LB

I don't. Always willing to consider an upgrade in any position of course. But I think the way we're set up right now whoever plays at LB will be exposed, because of a range of factors around them.

Did I say I was happy !?!, of course I wasn't happy

The 4 match streak though had given the board the get out of not strengthening in January

Hell we ALL know we need a new LB

It is a wake up call

If Fab hadn't played a blinder at Fulham we would have been 2-0 down before we scored, that's al lI;m saying.

Saturday our luck ran out, simple, hopefully we go again

Got what we desrrved which was nothing from the game. We was poor compared to recent weeks and bullied by Watford for most of the game.

Anderson was quiet, and Pea needed to take those chances in the second half.

3 massive games now to try and stay in that mini league outside the top 6. Soton will be tough, as will Burnley. Injury list might start to take its toll but hoping the lads can get some results. Players like Anderson need to step up and be magic.

Re: West Ham v Watford - Official Match Thread FT 0-2
It’s pretty simple for me. Our very average midfield and full backs did better against lower opposition who weren’t as good. We one up against a decent Watford team who have a couple of very good central midfielders and we lose the game.

We all know where we need to strengthen in Jan. Starting with a proper cm and ideally first team quality rb and lb. realistically that’s another 60m plus so I expect only one signing. Let’s hipe it a a good one.

How were we found out.

We never cheated our way to 4 on the spin. We never tricked or conned our way to 4 on the spin. We were the better team in those games and got the result we deserved. We weren't lucky at all in any of those games.

On Saturday had we took our chances we could have won.

You are glad the run stopped??? What a fucking odd thing to think and say.

Re: West Ham v Watford - Official Match Thread FT 0-2
You put together a team, including a keeper and the majority of the time, if it is better than the opposition, you get the results you want.

We were not lucky, I can honestly we were more skillful than the opposition for an extended run of games, for the first time in a long while.

True, Boots, but then again I can't see many teams winning without a goalkeeper.

Re: West Ham v Watford - Official Match Thread FT 0-2
The truth is if it wasn't for Fabianski there is NO WAY we would have won 4 on the bounce

We got lucky, Saturday we got found out

Still not happy with the defence and the coverage / support they are getting.

In a perverse way I'm glad the run stopped, it has highlighted we are short al lover the park, we need more players in January....which would be next week !!!!!

I agree with that. Although I do feel we were a bit off par. Anderson huffed and puffed but was for the most part nullified. His best moment was when he set up Pea who completely miss hit it.

But I also agree with the last post on this that injuries are catching up now. With Lanzini and Arnie playing we win that game. They would have been the difference.

Re: West Ham v Watford - Official Match Thread FT 0-2
We were below par and the injuries are starting to catch up with us.

I wish goobers like Gold0 would stop predicting top six when we win a couple in a row. The heightened expectations are almost guaranteed to end our run.
