Hasn't Yarmalenko scored just under a goal every other game in his career at club and international level?

He handy if he could even manage one in three here.

Not sure many teams at our level have more than 1 "top" Bonafide striker,

Couldnt tell you who Vardy's replacement is, is Ihenacho still there?

Everton dont even seem to have 1 proper striker at the moment.

Josh King is a decent backup to Callum wilson but he's been on the left alot and Solanke is crap.

Wolves play 2 up top essentially but not sure how good the backup striker is if one were to go down.

Think its about having one focal point to try and give you 15-20 goals and then having decent contributions from multiple other sources.

Davies exactly the reply I was expecting, he was good at holding the ball up and he bullied Lindelof out of the game all positives, however watch his movement it was awful in the last two games he has posed zero goal threat, he runs up blind alleys. I am not writing the fella off it’s early days and I get with us spending 40 million on him everyone wants him to be a success, just calling out what I saw.

Good sides have more than 1 proven goalscorer, yes the 2 you mentioned can nick goals but I would certainly wouldn't hang my hat on either of them. The truth is we have 1 bonafide striker, let's not dress it up.

Wasnt Anderson our top scorer last year? or very close to it.

Yarmolenko is a proven goalscorer

Would back Lanzini to chip in with plenty if he pushes on more and starts to read flickons a bit better.

Doesnt mean that Haller wont score either he'll just score different types of goals, he clearly knows where to be when the ball is played into the box as evidenced by his goals already, just hope we can actually attempt to put some decent crosses into him and not always rely on getting to the byline and pulling it back as he clearly has the capability to climb above defenders and win a header in the box

Right, but apart from Antonio who is injured I don't fancy many of our other players to bag?

Re: ⚽ Oxford v West Ham - The Official Match Thread Carabao Cup FT 4-0
Would be up to whoever is playing off him and the wide players to run behind the fullbacks and through the channels the same way Jovic and Rebic did at Frankfurt to great success

''If you're expecting him to be running in behind on the end of through balls then you'll be disappointed as that's not his game''

Exactly. So if he's not doing it then who is?

Re: ⚽ Oxford v West Ham - The Official Match Thread Carabao Cup FT 4-0
Thought Haller was superb against Man Utd, holding the ball up and bringing everyone else into play, winning loads of flick ons against Maguire.

If you're expecting him to be running in behind on the end of through balls then you'll be disappointed as that's not his game.

I would like to see us put some more crosses in to him though to try and head for goal, could be a good chance tomorrow as not sure how dominant the bournemouth defenders are in the air.

if you're comparing him to carew or zaza you must be a genuine fucking retard.

Re: ⚽ Oxford v West Ham - The Official Match Thread Carabao Cup FT 4-0
I thought he was brilliant against man utd, literally dominated their 2 centre backs in the air. Didn't lead to any chances for him but led to a lot of good stuff for the team. His hold up play is better than anyone ive seen for us comfortably. I think hes been brilliant so far. The chances will come and he had 3 in 6 I believe, that's still good going!

SUM agree I didn’t want to post anything slagging the guy off because as you say it’s two games, but his movement especially in the last game from my seat with a bird’s eye view was terrible. It brought back memories of watching Zaza, one of my mates said have we bought the new John Carew. Hoping he is just finding his feet.

It was a joke but if you want to argue it:

The Queen's English along with formal American English, in all their flawed glory, has the second person - plural - as "you." No need to add "all". It is redundant.

IoC,

I prefer to use the Queens English, not American!

Re: ⚽ Oxford v West Ham - The Official Match Thread Carabao Cup FT 4-0
Why was Holland taken off, sounds like he was the only attacker doing ok?

One thing we need to understand from that game, aside from the fact that our reserves aren’t all that, is that our extreme lack of pace when snodgrass, zab, Sanchez, wilshere all play is easily exposed by anyone. In fact with Antonio and fredericks out do we have anyone quick at all??

If you are going to go "you all" might as well go full "y'all"
