I called into my local supermarket after work and guess who was behind me in the queue - only Sean Dyche! We had a chat about last night’s game - he was very pleasant and said how proud he is of his team’s effort and resolve. I said I wish we had half as much application; he just smiled.

He said our stadium is a strange place to play at the best of times, but it was an ‘eerie bowl’ last night and every word seemed to have an echo.

Probably because there are enough of those threads already? (Probably not because anyone would disgree with the notion)

To David Moyes - this is how to get the best out of the players at your disposal!

why did that get locked?? too intelligent?

Physical, well-organised, gritty sides with a game plan are one thing. The negative shite served up by Allardyce was quite another. We have some special fans who can’t tell the difference?

So what.

I have to disagree with that to an extent. He may have put nails in his coffin and undoubtedly turned MORE people against him with that and other comments, (cupping the ear) but there was plenty of vitriol from a lot of people on here before he'd even managed a game for us.

If you could go back in time and look at WHO around about the time of his appointment, I'd bet it would be overwhelmingly negative. There would have been some 'give him the benefit of the doubt' and 'necessary evil' but I think it's revisionist to suggest that the majority here were not against his appointment from day one.

What an odd bunch."

you seem to have a bad memory. the cunt hounded himself out after giving up the week of the chelsea away game that season with his 'overachievement is dangerous' comment, and then playing like shit for the remainder of the year. unlike you, I put up a name of a manager that the poison dwarfs would consider and take the job, not some fantasy name that wouldn't touch is with a barge pole

Our midfield is utter shite and our full backs just lump balls up to the strikers because they arent capable of much else

that explains those stats

We're 16th in the possession league. There aren't many teams that sit back against us.

We're also 7th in the long ball league, which might suggest why we're 16th in the possession league.

"Yarmolenko plays up front for Ukraine and played there for Kiev, was actually quite prolific at Kiev too, before his injuries of course and negates this tracking back he obviously hates doing."

He plays as forward not a striker. Different things. I think we are talking about the no.9 position right?

MP can give people chances when your not facing relegation in a few weeks, thats not that big a deal.

I understand the fresh legs thing but I just dont think we have a choice. The only player I'd rest is Antonio because he just looks knackered but we literally are always worse without him so he just has to suck it up really.

I do see what youre saying though in terms of fitness and fresh legs. It helps. But I just dont think being able to run around more does anything against a team that is sitting back anyway.

If Pope didn't make any outstanding saves, then why was he made MOM?

First to every second ball, their midfielders fit as fuck gliding past ours including Rice numerous times. Defenders who can actually head a ball and throw themselves at everything. 2 up top with 2 wingers who actually get it out their feet and whip balls in. I’d love West Ham to be exactly like Burnley at the moment.

Dyche's net spend is less than 9 mil a season. Imagine what he could have done with the money we have wasted!

I don’t think it’s a case of underrating them, Burnley had most of the first team missing, my reasoning for being annoyed with the result.

When you list who was either missing or not 100% fit for them it’s so frustrating.

Mee (C), cork, Barnes, Brady, Wood, Lowton

6 out of 11 of their first team there

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Burnley- Official Match Thread
I’m not sure about that but he’ll need replacing next summer 100%. Just to much to do elsewhere in The side before you worry about him.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Burnley- Official Match Thread
They grind and do all the dirty little tricks well. They set up to frustrate and antagonise.

And it works. It's always historically worked. Wimbledon, Bolton, Stoke. Get a bunch of big mean bastards and one or two with a bit of skill about them. It's a way of competing beyond your means, even if it means playing grim football.

They are absolutely more than the sum of their parts. In a way it's to be admired, but would we want West Ham to be like that? Absolutely not. You might say we'd swap the results, but we'd be really against the style of play. Most on here hated Allardyce and hate Moyes for that. It would be the same.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Burnley- Official Match Thread
I know many want a different type of manager but id like dyche as he has a great backroom team and gets the most out of players. it's not always pretty football, but he's not scared to play two up top and he also comes across as his own man, which is essential when dealing with the poison dwarf

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Burnley- Official Match Thread
A big part of the problem is the amount of people on here who are seriously underrating Burnley!

They’re ravaged by injuries in key areas right now but their work rate, discipline and organisation - along with the rub of the green - saw them get yet another three points and a clean sheet last night. Those are three areas that we are sadly lacking in right now.
