Bilic got sacked after drawing with them. Funny old game.

He needed to show Mahrez onto his weaker foot. It would have forced him to the dead ball and to cross whwere all the defenders were. It was a theme all game - You need to show Mahrez onto his right foot at all times.

*Nathan Ake cost £41m & wasnt in their first 21*

He has been out with a Hamstring injury and wasn't fit

Expect it will be between them Bayern & maybe PSG to win the Champions league and on current form they will win the PL by 15 to 20 points.
Read that their bench on Saturday cost £364m so squad is PRETTY SOLID.

The best team in Europe or the best club squad in the world? Which one is it?

We played superbly well and should have got a draw from it. I guess is another step in the road. We gave the best team in Europe a run for their money, vastly superior to the average performances against Liverpool, Chelsea and Manure.

Onwards and upwards

Once again Moyes shows he doesn't just sit back against the bigger clubs.

We were unlucky not to get a draw, shame it was Diop on the end of the cross in the last minute.

Tactically Moyes was spot on, can't help but feel aggrieved at the fact we didn't get a result.

Johnson at fault for their goal, allowed Mahrez too much space allowing the cross to come in.

I thought a good result would be to get a draw. We wee very unlucky and dissapointed not to got something from the game.
That's a measure of how far we have come is that there is a feeling of disappointing losing to a club that had £400mil on the bench and had won 19 straight games until this fixture.
We would have been rolled over with a whimper in the past not anymore. There is a real desire and seriousness about this West Ham that is unlike any I have seen in my lifetime. Long may this trajectory continue.

I don't like the idea of oil rich multi billionaires and Russian criminals buying success in the PL, but am happy for City fans who have stuck with the team through thick and thin. Man City also are preveventing these scummy shithgouse cunts like Liverpool, Man utd and Chelsea winning the league etc.

I'm not so sure it's necessarily commitment, that Diop lacks.

I think its down to his mentality. I've said it before he comes across a bit naive, nervy and almost childlike in his demeanor.

Against Tottenham last week, I think he realised again that he's actually a decent footballer, took some responsibility and put in a really good performance.

I say move him into a rough council estate for a bit to toughen him up. It'll be the making of him.

I mentioned in the Johnson thread ( not that type of Johnson for any Septic posters :-) ), for me/IMHO, Diop's remaining problem is the ability to compete physically and especially in the air. He does well getting to the ball from crosses and clearly the danger and gets up well but its when he comes up against a tougher, lump or physical competitor in the air. Often its about doing enough to make sure they do not get a clean contact on a header or shot as opposed to actually winning the duel outright. Thats hopefully where Moyes, Nolan, Irvine and Pearce can help because currently I am not half as confident with him playing against a Troy Deeney type of forward as I would be with Oggy or Dawson. But he is improving so fingers crossed because he has pretty much everything else needed and his passing has improved immensely, his positioning and awareness too.

Wish we'd played like that vs a very beatable Manc side in the cup. Next year then.......

If he wants to put the work in Diop has all the attributes to be an outstanding player. Whether he has the commitment to be that good is another thing.

This performance comes almost exactly a year after going up to Anfield to give the runaway champions elect a good game that we could/should have won.

Just like then, we lost but come away positive, proud and full of hope.

Still young for a cb has all the tools to be top drawer.

Moyes said so himself and was never going to let him go.

Re: ⚽ Man City v West Ham - Official Match Thread FT 2-1
Diop’s confidence was rocked by a shaky defence and system beforehand. He was trying to do two jobs instead of one as those around him were also found wanting because of a lack of confidence and expectations what they should be doing.
Although I would prefer Ogbonna, for Diop personally I am pleased to see him back. Back in a team where the formation is now settled, and with strong characters around him like Coufal and Dawson helping him out, but not shirking their roles.
I can only see him improving more from here.

Re: ⚽ Man City v West Ham - Official Match Thread FT 2-1
Diol has been doing a fine job but we are missing Ogbonna at the back who has been a colossus this season. Who knows, he may have stooped that cross for first goal if playing.

Same never felt so positive after a defeat.

Our players looked devestated to lose to the best club side in the world at the moment like they didn't expect it.

Great to see and says so much about where their mindset is.

Re: ⚽ Man City v West Ham - Official Match Thread FT 2-1
Yea agreed. Can't remember feeling so positive after a defeat. They really should have the belief now that we can get top 4. Thought we deserved a point yesterday.
