I know today everyone likes analyzing a game to death and blaming the manager, wrong subs etc, which is fair enough, but if Antonio scores from one yard we win.

Bowen tried to buy a foul and failed.. His fault.

Did the same when running onto a ball in their box, their player didn't touch him.

Exactly, Bowens one is a foul most the time......then it gives it for handball and dont think it touches his hand......then Arsenal take it 5 yards further forward than where it should be

Also first half we were 2 v 2 and he stops the game......Partey had a 'head injury' but common sense and looking at where the ball was and the position we were in should have allowed few more seconds for game to run on.......by which point Partey was back up on his feet

About Bowen ‘diving’ for their second, if the ref thought that, why didn’t he book him?

It was the sort of foul that is soft and rubbish but gets given all the time. In fact it was similar to the won Antonio won for the free kick for our second. Ludicrous decision

Even if he was worried about putting Johnson there, he could’ve gone with fredericks. Cresswell just needed cover

We also had balbuena on the bench if he wanted to go with three proper centre backs

"Logic was to go 5 at the back and put Johnson LWB to cut out the Chambers threat surely?"

What was my thinking at the time also. Whatever Moyes did, didn't work.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Arsenal - Official Match Thread FT 3-3
First 30 mins outstanding

After that always looked inevitable we wasnt going to win the game.....altho the 2nd goal i dont get why Moss blew for a foul.....then its taken from the wrong spot.....but we hold onto 3-1 for 10-15 mins more and much better chance of winning the game

The referees 2nd half performance was atrocious

Do think Moyes poor in game management/subs/bottling it again cost us though. Bringing Noble on 65 mins in was a shit decision. Dont see the logic behind it when they were free flowing and needed someone to get close to Odengaard who was running the show. Logic was to go 5 at the back and put Johnson LWB to cut out the Chambers threat surely? Benrahma and Lingard were lazy with their tracking back at times down that side

Felt like a defeat at FT and it was a game really needed to win to push for top 6. I had that or Everton as the easiest of the 'big' 4 home games.

Be tougher to do now but still in our hands

Think.the female commentaor on 5 live deserves a bit of credit, before the game Connor McNamara was banging on about how our home form was so much better without the fans in (and that it wasn't lazy journalism to say so), when she interjected that it was more to with us having better players playing better as a team.

Nice to see some of the pundits and commentators don't just follow the script.

Sven

He dived and the referee called it a foul imho. Why he did that when we had the ball i dont know? Tried to cheat and cost us the game.
That said we really need to keep the ball better and not just give the ball back whacking out of defence when under pressure.

Agree with all that on Antonio.

Think he’s great but he’s not a natural striker. He does scuff shots. That’s less than optimal technique.

Best we’ve got though, so let’s hope he stays fit.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Arsenal - Official Match Thread FT 3-3
Thought we were a bit unlucky
We dominated for 35mins then they dominated for 20mins 10mins either side of the break then it was end to end for half hour with both teams having chances but I’d say ours were more clean cut the two Antonio missed and the one where there was a scramble that neatly ended with a tap in for lingard
If we’d had Oggy yesterday we’d of won that I thought Dawson looked like a player on loan from Watford yesterday and was pretty poor Diop wasn’t much better. Lingard was good going forward but awful when we had the ball just didn’t track Odargard and he kept dropping in behind him.
Thought after getting everything desperately wrong against Man Utd the manager got everything right if I was to nit pick I’d of brought noble on a bit earlier as before he came on we couldn’t get out of our box once he came on we gained some control back and it became more end to end rather than backs to the wall. All in all good game but I’d suggest if we want to finish in the top four we need to win at least two of the three games against the teams around us now.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Arsenal - Official Match Thread FT 3-3
Look 3nil up we should go on and win the game but we defended poorly yesterday. Saying we let them come at us, well we've played on the counter all season at home and have won more home games than anyone bar City.
Like people have said we've done well when look at the squad we have, much better than we expected.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Arsenal - Official Match Thread FT 3-3
Also havent seen confirmation what the foul by Bowen was in the build up to their second goal. Seemed much more the other way if a foul at all.
If it WASNT a foul and the ref would say I just let play continue the Arsenal player touched the ball

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Arsenal - Official Match Thread FT 3-3
Antonio has been brilliant for us since first lockdown. But he's never been a great finisher before and I was concerned that it was a purple patch that would stop and we'd be short up front.

He still had two assists, but as Manuel said he can't seem to connect cleanly with the ball at the moment, seems anxious in front of goal

Yeah the ref did contribute to our downfall, however we did miss two great chances to score a fourth

Agree about Bowen going down, especially the one in their area, weren't we three up then?

Arsenal were very good second half and as we've done for years instead of trying to relieve the pressure by keeping the ball we hoof it long straight to them or out of play.. Need to be braver. But we're fifth.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Arsenal - Official Match Thread FT 3-3
I think sometimes we do need to reflect that we have one striker at the club .... £7m Antonio ... while Arsenal have Aubameyang & Lacazette (cost £100m) plus £72m Pepe and two players on loan from Real Madrid (vs Craig Dawson on loan from WATFORD).

I'm not sure whether we really believe we can beat teams from the Big 6 and thats obviously the first step .... but requires more quality and depth.
Should still have won though. Lacazette thrashes a shot wide and we are punished because Soucek is back in position to defend. And not going to criticise Dawson for getting back to defend .... again we were punished because he got back TOO quickly and couldnt get out of the way. Half a step or a step slower and he would have cleared.
