New players Kehrer, Pacqueta, Scamacca (together with Rice and Bowen possibly) are a week away from playing in their first World Cup.

Can’t think why they may performing at 90% right now in the PL when what seems to be at stake is the difference between finishing 8th and 10th.

Should have subbed Bowen and replaced with Antonio on the right.

Didn’t Bowen start in the left for Hull ?

Need to see an improvement in the new players general play, paqueta I just see flicks and soft on the ball, scamacca bambi on ice and Kerher big mistake every game.

I think the point about changes Moyes made helping was more “yes and no”. Downes didn’t stand out but I noticed he’s just a bit quicker to press ( certainly compared to Soucek anyway) and plays it simple and rarely gives it away. That said he got flattened first touch he had and ref waved play on and with the Palace midfielder just outside our box. :-) Other than that he helped disrupt the freedom of the midfield we had given Palace for 60-70 mins by sitting so deep and not being able to (or perhaps not instructed to ) press them.

Benrahma should have stayed on and Fornals come on with Antonio going to wide right, Bowen was the one to hook. IMHO of course.

In fact I would love to see the following line up one day:

—————-- Areola——
———Kehrer —Zouma—- Aguerd—-
Johnson————————————Emerson
—- Paqueta ——— Rice———— Downes
—————-—- Fornals or Benny ————
————- Scamacca / Antonio/Bowen/Cornet

Ok 15 players we are sure to win ;-). Listed options but aim is to play players in their preferred/ best positions but also be a bit fluid and all players that can pass well ( Johnson might be the exception ). btw while Downes might be shown on the left and Rice in the middle they interchange and rotate during games. Johnson is the one question like I say but he is a solid defender and can attack although needs to improve. Just Coufal looks so vulnerable and can’t pass or beat the first man when he gets forward. Ideally we get a new wing back or two but for now use what we have and try to create width and overlapping etc

Kehrer and Aguerd both have pace so we should be able to play further up the pitch. Rice, Downes Paqueta, Benny or Fornals in the positions they played at previous clubs where they were doing well which is why we bought em I assume. Benny and Fornals contribute with the other 3 aforementioned to press high and again lots of movement l. I’ve been watching Brighton, Arsenal, City of course and even Palace and other teams. They all play similarly.

Easy sitting in the armchair blowing off as I do constantly but it’s the idea that you play to your strengths and to a system. I expect others won’t agree but it’s just an opinion.

Moyes has an outdated system and trying to make players play unfamiliar positions to make it work.

I never want to see us sitting deep and launching it from the back just to relieve tge pressure which is what we do so much still. Btw, Areola gets in because he is better with his feet and playing to keep the ball now involves a keeper.

All the above does not remove the necessity to still bring in 3 or 4 more quality players. We need another striker, a pacy one and wing backs.

If we lose Rice as expected we go after Caciedo at Brighton. I’ve watched him in 4 games so far this season. A brilliant player and better than Bissouma who he replaced.

Anyway enough fantasising, I know nothing will change much until after the WC and even then I won’t hold my breath for Moyes to embrace an attacking, modern approach

Yeah, exactly what I've been saying. Moyes has been bemoaning our bad luck, for me, if it all evened out, we'd be bottom.

Chim

Sorry I can’t agree with us being unlucky, we got a penalty at Forest and missed it. Yes goal probably could have stood but we still missed the pen.

Spurs pen vs us at home was overturned which was a pivotal moment and meant we got a point.

We got a penalty at Anfield - we missed it.

Kherer played volleyball for our first goal vs Bournemouth - it stood, we got a pen vs Bournemouth when the defender could do nothing else with his arms.

Scammaca and Antonio both got away with handball for 2 of the goals vs Fulham and we got the decision for the foul on Dawson to get us a pen.

Yes we got fucked over at Chelsea, should have had a pen at Southampton for the judo throw on Soucek but Antonio dived and cheated Sunday and the pen was rightfully overturned.

I don’t think luck has got anything to do with it. Stupid fucking errors, losing the ball In poor arrears, persistently playing out of form players, using players in the wrong position, not adjusting the set up and making the wrong subs too late are where we have fallen down.

We’ve had more decisions for this season than against.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Crystal Palace - Official Match Thread
How about our deflected, fluke of a goal against Aston Villa, who dominated most of the game? Or Fulham hitting the bar when it was 0-1? The 2 absolutely shocking decisions that went for us with both our goals against Bournemouth?

Palace 100% deserved to beat us Sunday. Any other result would have been scandalous. WE were lucky it was still 1-1.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Crystal Palace - Official Match Thread
Palace had flooded the midfield and we couldn’t retain the ball. Benny was the worst offender as he is decent with the ball at his feet for five metres and then either scores a worldie or gives the ball away, not much inbetween. And then is a headless chicken in terms of formation.
The subs were good, they gave us the ability to retain and recycle the ball and we started playing better. Manu linking up with Paq pushed up on the left was tilting the game in our favour. Palace couldn't get hold of the ball, thus nullifying Olise, Eze, and Zaha, their dangers.

Shame we didn’t keep Scam on, because that system would have worked to his strengths. Instead Mickey gave the ball away criminally with six West Ham bodies in their box, going all out for the win.

We've had dogs luck so far this season. I'm struggling to remember a start as unlucky as this. Everything seems to be going against us and Sunday we even had a penalty overturned. I'm not saying we deserved more than a draw but a deflected, fluke of a goal in the last minute of extra time?

If we'd have won that (and we didn't deserve to, it was our worst performance this season) we'd be tenth and looking okay.

That goal by the way all started with Mickey virtually passing the ball to a Palace player. What's with him and horrendous rickets against Palace?

Taking off Benny ahead of Bowen was mad.
Bringing on Lanzini ahead of 2 goal Fornals was mad.
Thinking Lanzini on the left side (where he basically hasn't played well for nearly 4 years) was gonna work was mad.
Playing Fornals on the left for all those games but not this specific one was mad.
Having Emerson, a naturally left footed wing back, stuck on the bench whilst those two get on ahead of him in the left wing position, was mad.

He's a scared, illogical mad man.

If Villa can attract Emery and Wolves the ex Spain & Real manager I dont think Pochettino is unrealistic
As I said yesterday where is he going as an altenative?
None of the top 8 in the Premier league have a vacancy

Last count I had was 25 points in the last 25 League games. With virtually a full strength squad throughout
Its gone well beyond a poor patch of form and you'd struggle to see any signs of it being turned around.
In fact the Palace game seemed to show it getting worse.

If there is ever a time to change its at the start of a 6 week break so the new manager can work with most of the players and see what he needs in January.

i absolutely get what people are saying about 2 seasons in and around CL places and two successive EL campaigns and its hard to deny Moyes hasnt done a fantastic job in that repsect, but it's fallen off so badly for almost a year now and we are facing a relegation battle with the kind of football we're playing. 7th place really papered over the cracks of hte football we played in the last 3 months of last season and ot was the first 3 months that got us there.

Every manager has their time and Moyes's has come. We've spent 180 million and are playing comfortably the worst football in some time. That in itself is damning. He has to go.

Rm10. Geoff Hurst scored a hat trick in the world.cup final, doubt Southgate will find space for him in the squad in qatar

No room for sentiment anymore. Our form in the league has been shocking since Christmas. We ate bang in redouble and my big issue with moyes is he won't change things up. At all. Ever.
