In my younger clubbing days I could dance a bit to soul/jazz funk music and then onto house/garage. Nowadays if those moves were emulated I would just look like a silly old cunt like Swiss does every time he goes out with the yoofs of today at the weekend......

Thought I could dance as a kid, but er no I can't. Realised that as 14 when a teacher persuaded me to take part in the schools disco dancing competition. I stupidly accepted and waggled away to Adam Ants Goody Two Shoes in black PVC jacket and trousers thinking the girls were screaming,,,, They weren't they were laughing! Didn't help that my performance was sandwiched between the two best body poppers in the school and a girl who went on to be a professional dancer! Think The Inbetweeners and you won't be far off on cringe!!

My daughters (no links) have all said that they're not getting married until I promise to not dance at their respective weddings, so, yes, guess I'm Romford's very own Gene Kelly.

The dancers I despise are those who have learnt a couple of moves and thats all they do but they think its enough and impressive but, theres nothing worse than that dancing with the cigarette dance. Rave was excellent as the dancing was as imaginative and creative as the music. You could do anything as long as you DID it.
The most challenging dance is Jazz dance. Its impossible to wing it. You need a lot of good moves and every part of your body needs rhythm.

You need a little natural rhythm. I started clubbing in the 90s through 2000s. Lots of house and trance. I also dj'd a little (mainly bedroom). The style of music might have something to do with it. Used to have a girlfriend who was at a performing arts college. And used to piss her right off that I was better at dancing naturally in clubs than she was.
I don't enjoy dancing to rnb or garage etc, it's a very different style and I don't like the music. So I generally used to turn around and walk off thr dance floor. Cheesy tunes were OK to dance to. Mate of mine and I used to like it if the club was really poncy and full of posers. We used to do dad dancing and pull out all the deliberately bad moves as a piss take. Most realised we were taking the piss, but you'd occasionally get someone that thought we were being serious. Which made it funnier to us.
But I agree with the comment about it being very hard to dance out of time. My dad did that somehow, and I physically can't dance out of time.

We used to know a bloke whose wife was brilliant to watch when dancing, because she had no idea about timing. We tried to mimic her, and it's actually quite hard to do, trying to dance so you don't keep to the beat.
I bet she was fucking chaos in bed.

At funk and soul clubs you really needed to have some moves. Disco less so. Rock? ππππ. I always thought disco and house is dance music for cunts who cant dance. Rock is for people who cant dance and dont like music.

Can't dance, won't dance. I am far too self conscious too abandon myself to the dance floor. Tried a few times in my teens/twenties but just embarrassing and everyone prefered that I stopped. I don't believe that 'anyone can do do it' some of us are just incapable.
So made the decision I was doing less damage to my chance of pulling by sitting on my own at the bar while everyone else was enjoying themselves. In the main I just never went clubbing or anywhere where I might be expected to dance. Cost me a few missed opportunities but I did alright considering.

Still remember from going to places like the Shannon or Room at the Top, anything went, nobody cared through to going to Hollywood where there seemed to be some sort of accepted dance standard. Weird place. Fun, but very dodgy people.
Then there was the school summer party at my son's school in dagenham years ago where I turned up and noticed most of the staff seemed a bit pissed and I was unimpressed but had a few glasses and then heard MC Hammer "Can't touch this!" and decided I could easily do this. I still get reminded of this to this day.
