See it’s the same two in the final again. We need to keep these traditions going as long as we can.

Only worth watching if they both sink in comedic fashion.
Too rare an event to watch it on the off-chance

Yesterday's Boat Race(s) were good contests ( not always the case). Also, it seems that both Oxford and Cambridge crews were made up of more undergraduates rather than imported international rowers as has often been the case.
Don't know how posh or not the crews were but I do know that it is not just posh people that go to Oxbridge, otherwise, my eldest wouldn't have got a place at Cambridge. She went on the basis of her A-level results gained in a Comprehensive School and not any silver spoon.
Incidentally in her opinion, the students that were the biggest snobs in Cambridge were the undergrads at Kings College who were primarily from state schools.

I spent part of my childhood in Cambridge so I like it, and I'll usually watch it and needless to say I hope the light blues smash those Oxford cunts into oblivion every single year.
Can see why lots of people wouldn't give a shit about it as it probably is a bit elitist, but it's one of the traditional great British sporting institutions.

Few of us (Couples) went up around 10 years ago... drunk at a few pubs on the waterfront at Hammersmith... we had a great time... shed loads of people all having a great time.. think I read that 300,000 people get to the Thames to watch it... majority of people didn't give a monkeys whether the light or the dark blue won just went as it's a part of being very British... I'd deffo go again..

Does rhythmically dipping a plank of wood into and out of the water for about 20 minutes prove that you're smart, clever & intelligent?

I remember back in the 80s as a kid if I wasn't going west ham that day, it'd totally disrupt the football coverage on radio 2 and piss me off as they made a massive deal out of it.

"I'll Groove in with the Forman"
And
"Sabotage!"
I believe from the same episode.

The best ever bit of dialogue in Minder, in the jury service episode.
Arfur; "you cannot judge a man by his boat"
Confused-looking Indian woman; "excuse me, I do not understand...what means boat?"
Arfur; "Boat race, madam." (Continues speaking without further explanation)

Well they're only girls, poor loves. Rowing is too hard work.
