Rupert Murdoch
The man who brought you Thatcher, Trump, Page 3 girls and the current level of English Premier League football.
'Stepping down' to back seat drive his gormless son Lachlan as News Corp chief before he karks it Logan Roy style and the whole show falls apart.
The most important media mogul in the last 50 years?

Re: Rupert Murdoch
My dad worked at the News of the Screws when Murdoch took over. Dad was a card-carrying member of the Communist Party all his life and was a union member. He used to take me into work at weekend nights when he could (I loved it) in Fleet Street.

I remember my dad telling me about Murdoch jumping up on top of one of the presses to talk to the workers and told them how the future would be. My dad didn't like the message but said he was a brilliant speaker and didn't take any shit off anybody.

Personally I couldn't stand him, but recognise that he transformed the media in the western world.

Re: Rupert Murdoch
Is this the bloke who owns the Sun, The Times & The Sunday Times?

Aussie, isn't he? Pink on the map, pink in reality.

Timing of his departure just another coincidence, I'm sure.
