Premiership Class ?
This should put the cat amogst the pigeons !

Of the 11 who played against Forest, who would retain their place in the first 11 for next season if we do get promoted ?

So in essence, who is good enoughto be in our Prem team ?

Green
Tomkins
Noble
Nolan ( Though I'm not totally convinced )

I know others have played in the Prem, but are they good enogh ?

All about opinions !

You tossers ?

Its all about opinons mate.

Last season - Stoke got to the final of the FA Cup and finished 13 (i think and i think the season before 10/11) they were hardly fighting relegation, in fact it was probably one of their best seasons to date.

I would worry about getting rid of Diop as he has given us something we havent had for a long long time, unless of course we play O'Brian there.... which he can.

Re: Premiership Class ?
Obrien started off ok but his lack of pace is very clear. He's not a terrible player but for me I wouldn't want him being our RB next season, not by a long shot. If you disagree then of course thats your opinion.

Last season Stoke were aiming for another survival season - Faye, who was a massive crowd favourite - found himself out of the team. Given he is on a one year deal (with a view to extend) Im not sure it would be worth keeping him around though I could be swayed if there weren't better options. With Tomkins as a starter a new, experienced strong CB and with Reid and maybe this guy John - that would look enough...

Diop has done a job for us but in the Prem he will be far less effective, ask any Fulham or Pompey fan what they think of Diop. His contract is up and it will be - see ya later.

Does that answer you LJC?

Goldie,

At the rate Reid is improving, i would be happy with him at CB plus we have this American that apparently comes with very good reviews. McCartney would be fine at LB.

Rather than pick the rest of the post apart could you tell me why O'Brien, Diop and Faye would not make your team? With regards to Faye - we are not at Stokes level. We are not a top half of the prem team.

Why are people suddenly deciding that O'Brien isn't that good? He's been great this season. His versatility kind of makes him the new Spector, and he's far better than him.

WHO never fails to baffle me. Do we need to have a right back as good as Maicon before you're happy?!

Re: Premiership Class ?
Team for next season with the lot we have got right now(for arguments sake go with a 4-5-1 as that is what you imagine BFS will plan for at least 75% of the games) :

Green

New RB --- Tomkins ---New CB---New LB (Though Mccartney could potentially 'do a job')

New RW - Noble (could def improve) - New CM - New LW (again, Taylor could do a job but we NEED to decent wingers to play this formation)

Nolan (simply because you know he will be picked)

New Striker (could be the striker we acquire by Tuesday)

Squad Players:
Reid, Collison, Baldock, Cole, Hall, O'Neill

Players gone who will be out of contract and not worthy to keep:
Faubert, Carew, Diop, Faye (Faye is arguable but barely got a look in last season for Stoke)

Players not up to the job:
O'Brien, Picqionne, Sears,

Youth Players who should go out on loan to Champs/League 1:
Potts, Hall (if not getting any sort of look in, may be different if we have 7 subs)

Going to be a very, very busy summer if we do indeed get promotion.

Phil Parkes was legendary keeper and from what I hear an amusing host beyond that....

Re: Premiership Class ?
Phil Parkes view:

“I really think that West Ham only have three or four players in their squad that will be able to do the business in the Premier League,” said Parkes.

“Robert Green and James Tomkins have been excellent, while I have been impressed by Matt Taylor because he gives the team something a little bit different.

“But apart from that, maybe Mark Noble is the only other one who is good enough for me.”

Hardly the first choice 11 that is it either? That season was a crying shame because we were in for a place in Europe via the league until we picked up the dreaded injury curse....

Green
Neill - Collins - Upson - Ilunga
Parker
Behrami - Collison
Noble
Cole - Di Michelle

Went on a blinding little run that put us right in the mix

Faubert would walk into most Prem sides

I agree... not many French FULL internationals... scored on his debut as well...

Re: Premiership Class ?
Yep, him too, he was irresponsible, for me.

When you look back at the shambles the club was over the last few years, top to bottom, its hard to venture that relegation wasn't deserved. Absolutely everyone involved needs to take some responsibility, but it desperately needed a truly incompetent figurehead to bring it all together and give everyone someone to blame. That seems to be the one job that Avram got spot on!

I'd suggest Leon BRITTON's form has as much to do with the hard work and dedication of the individual as it does Brendan Rodgers input as well.

Far too easy to attribute all our shortcomings to Avram's undoubted incompetence last year. If Parker was winning Player of the Year under him, the rest need to bbe having a VERY long look at themselves as to what went wrong. Bar none.

i would suggest that was despite avram, not because of him, parker was having to be a one man team at times.

im sure your journos that voted for him saw that too.
