Clapping Nolan off the pitch.
Can't believe people round me did this. The most brainless challenge that endangered us for 82 minutes and people clapped him off!

Re: Clapping Nolan off the pitch.
Nolans a fat overpaid lazy prick. Never looks remotely bothered about being on the pitch. I quite frankly was happy to see him leave the field but the manor in which he did it was disgraceful! He let everyone connected to the club down and am pleased that we will have the real west ham captain in charge for the next 3 games and can watch someone who actually wants to lead from the front.

Rant over.

NS - you would have been so proud of the captains performance. One of the best performances I've seen from a west ham united player for a long time.

Can't wait to see him lead the side for the next 3 games.

Well done again, Nobes.

Re: Clapping Nolan off the pitch.
Sir Alf agree with most of that and although at thye time I thought it was a ridiculous challenge, it was one that was a natural reaction rather than malicious intent.

Shame as he's the leader of the side and we're going to miss him for the next three games, i can't understand some of the juvenile venom thrown his way

albeit not convincing - is our recent form not very good? points wise

Re: Clapping Nolan off the pitch.
I said it earlier on but if we win our next three games convincingly then Nolan should have to settle for a place on the bench.

This thread is nothing short of embarrassing.

He's the club captain FFS.

I like him.

It was an idiot challenge from an idiot player...

However he is great in the changing room

Re: Clapping Nolan off the pitch.
As always, its about interpretation.

For me malicious equates to "intent". I did not think on this occasion that Nolan had intent to injure the other player. He has with a few other challenges I have seen this season but not this one. In the words of Alanis Morrisette "isn't it ironic".

It's more the timing. A few weeks on and he may have got a yellow but these tackles are flavour of the month at the moment. That was naivety at best and stupidity in the extreme.

But I know from when I played back when you took a tram to the game etc... that once across that white line (no, nothing to do with coke) the insincts take over sometimes with emotions running high in a local derby like yesterday. He wants to win the crowd over with a crunching tackle after much criticism for his display last Tuesday. The road to ruin paved with good intentions maybe?

Nolan having a bad time of things currently but I would rather him in our team as captain than not.

Re: Clapping Nolan off the pitch.

Totally agree, as I do with a lot of your views. I also personally don't get the hate Carlton cult but can see where the frustration comes from. I sympathise with fans views ref Nolan, don't mean to come across all pissy, just think there is more to Nolan than his on field performances, I.e. the captain of this football club, I personally don't believe his contribution on the pitch has warranted some the abuse he gets however I do myself find myself wondering how sometimes he fails to find a claret and blue shirt with what I perceive should be a simple pass.

Nonetheless, there seems to be a scapegoat culture amongst 'some' fans that sees a player who would seem to have contributed more than others (like our two top scorers this year) being moaned and groaned about while others, who have contributed less seem to escape blame.

Like you say courses for horses and all that, I just struggle to understand the mindset sometimes.
