i know everyone says he stabbed him in the back etc and the pair haven't spoken
but what did he exactly do.
sorry for not knowing but i think i was pissed up the whole time during this part of the west ham years and memory isnt as clear as it should be.

It's tough keeping quiet for 15 years. Usually I would advise making a lot of noise to make people think you want not to keep quiet, and thereby sneaking the keeping quiet in ... but then I noticed he's only a football manager. And Relax!

BoleynBoy, this is the song that must really get his back up. All other supporters will be singing about his dodgy tax affairs, which will go over his head now, but this one will make him squirm. We as West Ham supporters have history. Spurs fans don't have a fucking clue about him...yet!

Harry was offered the Bournemouth job. Went to the board and told them he was thinking of taking the job. They offered him the West Ham job and tried to shove Billy upstairs. Billy walked and hasn't spoken to Harry since.

I'm not sure that anyone knows the exact story of what happened as Billy Bonds has never given his isde of the story.
I consider myself lucky to have seen a lot of BB's playing career at WHU and, for me, he epitomises everything that a captain of our club should be. He was a player that was respected by other teams, looked after his team (particularly the youngsters as they came through), and, I believe, very unfortunate not to play for England.
His loyalty to WHU can not be underestimated. He stepped in to manage the team after the shambles that was Lou Macari's tenure and put pride and fight back into what was a broken team. He gained a promotion and was rightly loved by the supporters.
The way that he left the club left a bitter taste and I am not sure that he has ever been involved with the club since. Allegedly, he has been approached in the past about roles at the club but he has always declined the offer(s). He is obviously a man of principal and, for me, continues to hold the moral high ground over Harry.
I only wish that we could have had a captain of his calibre at the club over the last few years.

3/4? I must have seen 3 seasons or so of Billy as a player, which would have been 4 but I recall he missed the 85/86 season, and another 4 or so as manager.

Tr3bor, you're either on a wind up or talking out of your arse. We all could see what was happening long before Twitchy got the job. They treated Bonzo like shit for way too long. If it were possible to go back to a post of mine from a few years back, you'd know what i meant.

Also, a lot of people never found out what really happened for a long time as there was no WHO etc at that time, so it was all down to the papers and Oracle to bring the news.

As for Billy managing Millwall, it bothered them a LOT more than it ever bothered me, so I quite like that.

I agree that the way Bonds dealt with it showed real class and dignity but even when it happened I think people were aware that Bonds had been forced out and that Redknapp was not prepared to back his mate up by telling the board to stick the job offer.

Was a big deal made of it by fans when Redknapp took over? I don't think so at all. I don't even remember the fanzines making much of it. I remember a very small scale protest at the end of the first home game but I think people largely felt that Rednapp was the better option.
In my view it was only later that people have come to see it, rightly or wrongly, that Redknapp stabbed Bonds in the back.

I heard from an impeccable source that when Billy and Harry were joint managers of West Ham, the two had a showdown with owner (would have been Brown at the time right?) And were supposed to both offer to resign over the issue which Billy followed through on and was accepted.
Instead of backing Billy as he said he would, Harry then took his job.
I was told this 15+ years ago so the details are beocming a little hazy.
