Sam,
Well done for Wiki for managing to estimate that total!!
I would hasten to guess that a hell of a lot of so called supporters in north America would not give a toss whether celtic won or lost but would just say they liked celtic because of the irish connection.
Don't forget that at least 6 million of those that claim to support celtic also support either liverpool and man utd as well.
The spanish league have other good teams that play entertaining football, the scottish league (a lot of it down to money I know) is played by journeyman players with little skill. Sorry but the SPL really is dross.

Strange end to the game at Ibrox today. Half the crowd were cheering in solidarity with the club in their battle ahead with Administration, and the other half were booing the day's result.

Swindon , Wiki does not agree "Celtic have an estimated fan base of nine million around the world, including one million in North America. [6]"
And granted they are 10 points+ahead now in a league of dross with one potential rival but that does not necessarily make a league boring, sounds exactly like Real Madrid in Spain

Neil Lennon made me laugh in his press conference yesterday because he was obviously annoyed that people were already commenting that when Celtic win the league it will be undervalued.
Lets face it, if or when Celtic win the treble this season, no one will give a toss apart from a section of scotland and most of southern Ireland.
That league is so boring and shit.

As much as I love Celtic I genuiely feel sorry for the boys on blue, a huge club with great tradition, great players great managers and even some great fans, and it wouldn't be hood to the see them go to the wall, so let's all get behind them.

If they're losing £200,000 per week doing what they've always been doing then surely the administrators need to knock that on the head and not play any more games until the finances are back in order.

The options for Ally Mccoist are limited. I suppose Patsy Kensit might have him back. But more likely a guest spot on ' A Question of Sport' is on the cards.

Didn't hear the full press conference but from the selected quotes just offered up on Radio 5 Live, the administrators know the club's gone and it's just a case now of as graceful an exit as possible.
If they also owe other clubs any outstanding transfer fees, that could be another big problem for Scottish football.

If Rangers go to the wall, how long before others follow?
The current economic climate as it is, I cannot see the Gers getting out of this mess which is a huge shame for their fans and football. But where's the money going to come from to save them?
Looks like my softspot will be reserved for Linfield now! ♥ ♥ ♥

Agree with the points that Celtic do indeed need rangers, but still have to say that those grown men clad in blue scarves crying outside Ibrox are absolutely hilarious. But seriously the whole house of cards could go very easily in Scotland, its a mess, Hearts are in a worse state Rangers begging the police to do their next game for free Killy and Dundee Utd demanding money from Rangers, honestly you could not make it up. Wonderful lesson on how to fuck up a massive club. Another press conference coming up now.

Celtic only have a world wide following because of Rangers.
Its the deluded, exiled fenian bastards that keep that sectarian support bubbling along, once they don't have Rangers to play they won't have any foreigners bothering to buy their online IRA cocksucking tat because they don't actually care about football.

And how long do you thing Celtic will want to be playing in a shittier (non-televised) league before they start looking round for a less shittier (televised) one to become part of?

Colly, your view is shortsighted son. Firstly Rangers are the biggest club in Scotland, and while I agree Celtic have bigger world-wide support, what are all the Celts going to do without Rangers helping to keep the league alive?
To back up NSD's post, they're riding on the Titanic aka Glasgow Rangers and up in the distance is a huge iceberg about to sink Rangers and take the Celtic passengers with it.
