MEMORIAL EVENT - 25TH FEB 11AM BOBBY MOORE STATUE, BARKING ROAD

On Saturday 25th February 2012 my young 10 year old son Jonjo will be completing his second 23 mile 3 day walk from Wembley to West Ham Utd. His walk is in memory of his Nanny and the great Bobby Moore and in aid of The Bobby Moore Fund. So far he has raised over £45k in funds and over £1million in awareness.
I know it will not be everyones 'cup of tea' but in case you are interested ................
A memorial event will take place at 11am on the morning of the 25th at the statue on Barking Road. Jonjo will personally call out 120 names of fellow Hammers, their family or friends who also lost their lives to cancer. He will then lay a wreath in their memory whilst the Club Chaplain will say a short prayer and a band will play a tribute.
The second day of his walk (24th Feb) is the 19th anniversary of the death of Bobby Moore.

You are a star little man, hope to see you tomorrow, couldnt add my Mums name to those you read out could you, staunch Hammer she was, lost her to Ovarian Cancer 7 years ago now ?

I came out of the tube at Piccadilly circus this morning only to be confronted by a smurf with a bucket and young Jonjo who was not feeling to well on his way to upton park, shook his hand told him he was doing a great thing and to keep going.
Parted with my cash and he was on his way.
Truly inspirational!

Does he have a financial target he is looking to raise, or is it just, 'what ever I can make'?
I ask as it would be wonderful if he had a target and was guarenteed that from WHO participants before he set off.

Please do not worry about Jonjo. He knows that his charity work is not valued by some and people are entitled to their opinion.
I just hope that Mr Ovenchips (or his family/close friends) do not need to call on some of the money Jonjo has raised to help them in the future. Less of the Ovenchips and more Humble Pie me thinks xxx
