He was sent off, if we appeal it we will lose.

He was stupid to do what he did.

Think that covers it.

Jim... there are still frame pictures of his hand around his Gregory.... it's as blatant as you like.... the FA will laugh their bollocks off if we try and contest it

ha h a- isn't that what you are doing OM???

I have said from the start he pushed him in the chest, it was stupid but it was not violent contact and if Sharp hadn't had thrown himself on the ground, there is NO WAY he would have been sent off.

My gripe at the time was the normal match day thread hysterics.

lets agree to disagree on the nature of the sending off but agree it was stupid - something which was underlined by Vaz Te and Nobles reaction to Taylor afterwards

Re: West Ham v Southampton - Official Match Thread 1-1 (M Taylor red card)
ah dont appeal then if he grabbed him round the throat

and the fa need to slap an automatic 3 game ban on play acting after a panel review and agree the likes of sharp not only cheeted the opposition but the paying punters that missed out on seeing the hammers rip the sorry saints apart

Seriously, why are you arguing over something rather pointless?

When you raise your hands to an opponent you're running the risk of being sent off.

Taylor was an idiot, and Sharpe over reacted.

Move on.

I said he pushed him. Why are you trying to argue for arguments sake?

He grabbed him around the throat and he has pushed him.

My point though is that if the ref has sent him off for violent conduct and he sticks to that then I can't see an appeal being successful. Unfortunately it's up to the ref to decide what he considers violent or not.

no - he pushed him - the video shows that.

a freeze frame or one single shot makes it look different.

have we appealed it?

LJ - The way he fell is irrelevant. He grabbed him around the throat and then pushed him.

i can see the link but the video shows quite clearly he was pushed and went down like he was shot

Re: Hammers defender James Tomkins thinks that the team need to keep their discipline better
Had we have lost Josh, he would have been getting a lot more stick than he has done.

But because the 10 lads put in an excellent effort the spot light isn't on him as much as it would have been.

I am in total agreement with OM over this. I also doubt very much that it says in the rulebook what Sam is saying, and that perhaps that is how refs are told to interpret the law. I'd imagine it simply states that players who commit violent conduct get a red card.

However, that is just an opinion as I haven't got the rulebook in front of me. swt

What the gaffer said............

".......They all tell me that in the rule book if it's on the chest it's a booking and if it's in the face, or on the neck, it's a red card. "

Here's the incident:

Taylor is getting grief but more people are defending him than they were Nolan for something that was probably more blatant.

Both have got stick though so lets leave it at that.
