Re: Noble's Form without Nolan
your right noble is a playmaker and without nolan he plays a lot better because he can use his passing ability a lot better and have a free role in the team

Re: Noble's Form without Nolan
You're all getting close to understanding the key point, without quite getting it. Noble is a playmaker, Parker and Nolan aren't. The team should be built around Noble. Leaves us with a small problem regarding how do we do this with Nolan playing in front of him... and Nolan can't really play behind him.

We looked ok the last time we thought about this, in 2005 with Yossi Benayoun.

Best player in the Championship by a country mile.

Re: Noble's Form without Nolan
There is no reason why Noble shouldn't continue this form with Nolan back in the side.

He is playing out of his skin I think because he has taken it upon himself to lead by example and inspire the team.

Whatever you think of Nolan as a player, he is a great influence on the players around him, and this probably puts Noble into his shell a bit. I think this was the case a bit when he was playing alongside Parker. We just have to hope that Noble now realises what an influential player he can be, and continues to put in these amazing displays.

Green, Tomkins, Noble and Faubert are currently the first four names on the team sheet.

Re: Noble's Form without Nolan
From what I've seen Noble looks fitter, stronger and more athletic than at anytime in his career, BSF has done well there as has Noble in working on that side of his game. He is the best footballer at the club by a distance and know looks like there's more zip in his legs. He was immense on Tuesday. Also I think it helps him playing further up the pitch.

In a great team the sum should be greater than the sum of the parts.

Noble + Nolan ≈ approx 1.75

Should not be played together.

Re: Noble's Form without Nolan
Noble is growing into a very solid player but I think this growth is unrelated to our wonderful skipper getting suspended.

Re: Noble's Form without Nolan
To be fair to the opening poster he wasn't digging out Nolan. Are you no longer allowed to ask a football related question on this site without it being ripped apart and accused of being anti club somehow?

For the record I always though Noble played better without Parker in the team but that isn't a dig at Parker, just that they didn't compliment each other as much as they could.

I think the improvement in Nobles form is down to us playing a holding midfielder along with him and nothing to do with Nolan*.

*Nolan is a fat useless shitcunt though - now that is digging the wanker out!

Re: Noble's Form without Nolan
I think Sam has decided that Noble and Nolan can't play together without a holding midfielder, be that Diop or Tomkins.

If we go up, the holding midfielder is one of the positions that will be our target in the summer.

The fact that we have sill had shape after being reduced to 10 men reinforces Sam's belief in this system.

Forest and Brighton away were excellent as well.

I think we should keep Nolan out of the starting XI until we really need him.
The team spirit have been awsome without him, and why risk to loose it?
Let Noble be our captain and see what happens.

Re: Noble's Form without Nolan
He's played well, but I don't really believe that it's connected to Nolan not playing, apart from maybe he feels like 'the man' with the club captain not on the pitch.

He's played pretty well all season, never mind the last two games.

Re: Noble's Form without Nolan
Four points from two crucial games with ten men.

We just need to win our game in hand to underline how important this has been.

Let's see how Nolan and Noble play together with a fresh striking partnership ahead of them in an 'easier' match that allows us to try 4-4-2 again eh?

If you want to 'dig someone out' then it really should be Taylor...

I'd like to see us open up with confidence at some pint at home and try a 4-4-2. Lots of combinations will work but I'd like to start with something like:

Green
O'Brien Tomkins Reid McCartney
Faubert Noble Nolan Vaz Te
Maynard Cole

Baldock, Faye, Collison, O'Neil, Morrison

I've seen Noble play very well with Nolan in the team. Can't see the problem myself..............

Anyway, I'm off another wank of Christina Hendricks.

madeeasy, id say not only have we caught spurs up , we've overtaken them in the fickle league. I am convinced that some of our so called fans get more enjoyment out of slagging the players, manager and board off than they do out of us winning.

Re: Noble's Form without Nolan
were top of the league and still lookng for negatives....

only west ham, only west ham

actually you can insert the word spurs in there.

i never thought we'd get like their fans but embarassingly we seem to a little bit more every day

davidl, although the last two games have been two of our better performances i think its bollocks to say they were our best. Boro away and watford away were just as good.
