Why do Monaco play in the French Ligue 1, whist San Marino, Gibraltar, etc have national teams?
A geography lesson needed, s'il vous plait.

...because they are not the representative team of a National Federation.
Monaco, (the State), are not affiliated to UEFA.

That doesn't explain it I'm afraid. Andorra is also a Principality.

Fwiw, Cordell...they don't play in Ligue 1 anymore, they're in Ligue 2 now, and looking like getting relegated from that, tgoo. They're awful.

Monaco are really disliked by the rest of the French clubs because they don't patched and therefore could offer players more money than anyone else, especially the year they had morientes giuly rothen and saviola and made it to the CL final

The Basque autonomous region [ Euskadi ] have an international team and so to do the Catalans. Though these teams are not noted by Fifa as official.
BTW can anyone guess who manages the Catalan national team?

THE STRONGEST play in Bolivia. Won the Apertura recently, too. And beat Santos in the Copa Libertadores this week too.
Totally irrelevant, but an excellent name.

I think it might be to do with whether it's a principality or state or country - the definition of it.
Fairly sure there is at least one Italian club who play in Slovenia, (lower league) as well.

I can understand thses anomolies, i just dont understand why Monaco, a principality with a monarchy are not playing Euro qualifiers, like San Marino, erc.

There's a team called Endessa Andorra, who play in the Spanish League, lower division in their pyramid, who aren't actually from Andorra the country.
(There's a town in Spain also called Andorra)
Endessa Andorra also have hammers on their crest.
