grow your own..

ok its getting to that time of year when gardeners start thinking about what theyre going tog row so what is everyone else doing?
we're going with..
tomatos lettuce cucumber sweetcorn broadbeens brussles peas carrots onions red and white parsnips peppers pumpkins potatoes courgettes chillis. swede leeks
what is everyone else doing and what tips have people got....
my top tip, plant what you want, but divide it up and do it every 2 weeks over a time frame so you dont end up with it all ready at the same time.
good luck

yngwies cat.
my advice if doing it for first time is to sieve all the soil.
put all the bits that dont sieve in first and leave yourself with just the finer stuff for the top. this is good for all root vegetables. and to bea fir wont hurt with the rest either.
makes it easier to weed as well and looks nicer!
and you should get a decent massage from the rms at the end of the day as it is a bit of a back breaker!

Large bucket of water with a piece of wood leading from the ground to the top of the bucket. Bird food or cheese at the the top of the wood and in the water, the mice will actually jump in the water after the food and drown.
The end.

We are in the process of setting up the garden digging the beds etc. My Mrs is total garden nut. Probably as she works at the Botanic Gardens in Kew. However I know fuck all about plants. She just get's me to do the digging. However I do enjoy watching Rachel De Thame on that garden programe on the eeb.

Bromley Reject, Farnborough Village Gardeners' Association:
I have a big ceramic tub about 30 inches by 48 inches and about 12 inch deep, left behind by the previous tennant. It looks really good to grow something in...I thought about herbs but what sort of vegetables could I grow in it ?

as long as you build your pen properly the foxes wont get in.
set the old traps for the mice and they will soon be gone. i have got rid of a load of mice where we are with the old traditional traps.
although a robin got in there and it got caught! i felt bad about that!
