Paolo di canio - top of the league
Well done to paolo in his debut season. Top of league 2 with 2 games in hand. Well happy for him our future manager. Just have to love his passion.

Legend and will make a good manager. With Big Sam having just over a year left on his contract and I have a feeling he won't renew, we should go and see how Di Canio is fairing in League One and if good take him on.

Good luck to PDC but no manager can be judged on a single season cf. Roeder and Zola.

Got a few bob riding on us to win the Championship. If we do I may have a celebratory day on the lash at Swindon's last game which is at Bradford on Saturday 5th May.

Kudos to the maverick Italian!

I'd agree with Mr Polite. As for Di Canio he's building a team just like BFS whilst playing attractive football.

must have taken you ages to ask 25,000 people if they agree?

Loved Di Canios interview last night after a record run of wins was beaten - when asked why he didn't look happy he replies 'it isn't just about winning it is about the way we win which is important'

Brilliant attitude Paolo but sadly not one that many at West Ham share anymore.

if you like what PDC's doing you'd have to be over the moon at what BFS is doing - two leagues above swindon and managing footballers not plasterers and taxi drivers.

the first ego that conflicts with di Canio, if he ever gets into the top flight, will end up messy.

his personality type don't make good managers IMO

*happy to eat my words - love the bloke; the player.

Comma,

Yeah Swindon has got the best budget in league 2 but the likes of Crawley and Bristol Rovers have spent a fare bit on players since the summer without the success Swindon have.

We are have the best budget by far in the championship but seem to struggle to play attacking football most weeks.

Swindon actually play good football, score goals, are well organised and will win the league and cup double this year.

Di Canio has the best budget in League 2.

Best judge his performance when he is up against teams with similar budgets.

Swindon are the Chelsea/Man City of their division.

I wont gauge him as a good manger until he has a few years under his belt.

1st year people usually do good its the long term you would need to determine if they are a good manager

I must admit being a little surprised to how well he is doing...but I shouldn't be really - he has played under some excellent managers.

They are playing good, attractive attacking football in a division of cloggers - bombed out a player for dissent early doors - so he set the standard there.

I still think he needs at least 3-5 years apprentership before he can think about joining us though...

Gaz

Quite possibly would've gone the same way, PDC has even less experience than Zola. he has done the right thing, cut his teeth at a lower level, next season will be a bigger test for him. The owners of Swindon are resigned to losing himt o us eventually, should he continue to progress as a manager.

I still wonder what would have been had the board had the bottle to appoint Di Canio instead of Zola.

I guess I'll never know.

does anyone know if Swindon have had a big budget on players?

Or is he punching well above his weight with his squad?

Second season syndrome to overcome first. It always the same whether its a player, team or manager. The next season tells you if it was a one-off or not.

I suspect PDC is not but will still mark him as "promising" rather than "outstanding" until he has repeated success over several seasons and ideally at different clubs.

Hope to see him at the helm one day but after the Fat Man takes the England job or retires having just led West Ham to a successful season and a Champions League spot :-)
