West Ham v Crystal Palace - Official Match Thread
npower CHAMPIONSHIP
SATURDAY 25 FEBRUARY 2012
KICK-OFF: 12.45PM

• West Ham United welcome Crystal Palace knowing a victory would take them four points clear at the top of the npower Championship table. The Hammers go into Saturday's lunchtime kick-off on 60 points, one ahead of Southampton, who travel to Watford for a 3pm engagement..
• The Hammers go into Saturday's game on a fine run of form at home, having won four and drawn one of their previous five league matches at the Boleyn Ground.
• West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce has never lost to Crystal Palace in seven previous meetings during his time in charge at Bolton Wanderers and the Hammers.

TEAM NEWS
WEST HAM
• Skipper Kevin Nolan serves the final match of his three-game ban for being sent-off against Millwall on 4 February, while Matt Taylor serves the second game of his three-match ban for being red carded against Southampton on Valentine's Day.
• Midfielder Papa Bouba Diop and right-back Guy Demel are West Ham United's only major injury doubts. However, the fitness of James Tomkins and Abdoulaye Faye will be assessed on Saturday.

CRYSTAL PALACE
• Full-back Dean Moxey hopes to return from three months out with a knee injury.
• Midfielders Jonathan Williams and David Wright are the only definite absentees. Williams is continuing his recovery from a broken leg and Wright has a calf injury.

SKY BET
• WEST HAM 8/13
• Draw 11/4
• CRYSTAL PALACE 9/2

REFEREE
• Saturday's referee is Graham Salisbury.
• Earlier this season, Salisbury took charge of West Ham United's 4-1 npower Championship win at Nottingham Forest on 28 August 2011 - the only Hammers fixture he has refereed in his career.

I don't agree Hugh as I said the first half there was some very slick football played by us but as I said only up until their penalty box.
They packed that area with virtualy all of their players and we just didn't know how to break them down - parking the bus I think the phrase is!

Presumably Tony Popovic , Ted ? Former Palace centre half & Aust international.
It's him & Lennie Lawrence who assist Freedman

I thought we played some really good stuff in the first half up to their penalty box, once we got there though we lacked penetration.
Second half I thought was a bit of a snore fest although by that time I was half cut.

One of those very frustrating games, they happen. When Baldock missed that 2nd chance you could see then it wasn't going to be our day.

We set up completely wrong and they did a job on us. Pick ourselves up for the Cardiff game, which is a game we cannot lose.

Well i watched it live Ken and i just want to be sure that it really was that bad.

It was the assistant manager and he definitely ignored sam and didn't shake his hand.

Just watching the game again and noticed that just before the game when the Palace management team came out,the tall one with the mop of hair didn't shake Sam's hand.

Deliberate ? not sure.

It was an attempt to lure Coffee away from his conceptualing and the use of his discernment tommyfoolery tool.

Saw my next door neighbour yesterday, these are his comments

They had the better of the game

Green was MoTM so that supports his view

They had more shots

He didn't fancy our chances when he saw the teamsheet, no Nolan or Taylor

He reckons their back four is decent

They play with two defensive 'holding' midfielders (after I asked him who the Polish bloke was and where he was playing, turns out he's Australian and not a centre half)

He reckons they will struggle to make the play offs because they can't score enough goals

He didn't really comment much about us or how we played, I think secretly he was relieved they didn't get turned over.

Zaha was in a class of his own,
MACCA did well against him.
But sadly for Palace young Wilfried was trying to do far too much and was on his own,
He could be a second Budgie BYRNE although I would give him a free role from a deeper position.
Ambrose is a decent player though,

When Palace fail to gain promotion,we should go for him and sign him up.
Particularly if we are 10 points clear at the top

Re: West Ham v Crystal Palace - Official Match Thread
I've no worries about our away form but our home form, unless other results go kindly for us, could cause us to slip into the play-off places. I said at the start of the season that we would have better results away from Upton Park and it looks like its staying that way.
