Re: help
wonderkid. ftse is at about the 6000 mark i think now.

if it goes up to say 7,000 in the next 5 years then great youll be doing ok.

if in 5 years and 6 months a bank goes down or anything happens in the world like september 11th and the market dives and crashes for a while and it drops back down to 4,500 then youre fucked and could end up with less than you put in, potentially it depends on the terms.

there are better people than me on here that know these things its just the way i see it.

google ftse 100 for the past 10 years and it will show you the curves and you will then see that if you get in at the wrong time then you get burnt.

i am not in the finance world or an expert at all mate so dont take my word on it and i would welcome someone putting me right if i have got it wrong!

Re: help
the way they explained it one bad year was just 5.75 % off-ie over the whole time the best would be 34.5% and the worst would be just your capital back.as it is presently attracting 0.7% in a savings acc.he suggested i wasnt risking verymuch.cheeky git.

Re: help
I have one of these in an array of investments. I use it as the low risk end - as Josh says if this is going to be your one and only investment there are better choices out there.

If it was me - I would chuck it all into and Index linked fund.

Re: help
look at funding circle on the investment advice page.

seems like you can get access to your cash and set your lending level and you will beat the 5.75 % on offer.

i dont know if your cash would be tied in for the 6 years as well with nat west if youre getting that rate.
