LEEDS UNITED V WEST HAM UNITED
npower CHAMPIONSHIP
SATURDAY 17 MARCH 2012
KICK-OFF: 3pm

• West Ham United travel to Yorkshire looking for their third away victory in succession, having beaten Blackpool and Cardiff City on the road in recent weeks.
• West Ham United are just one win away from 11 away wins, which would equal the club's best-ever return on the road.
• The Hammers have not visited Elland Road since February 2005, when Leeds United snatched a 2-1 Championship win.
• Leeds have won 14 of the last 19 meetings between the clubs, with the Hammers only tasting victory in two of 26 matches played over the last 29 years.

TEAM NEWS

LEEDS

• The hosts could be boosted by the return of winger Robbie Rogers from the head injury he suffered in mid-February. Leigh Bromby and Alex Bruce could both be in contention after returning to light training.
• Andy O'Brien will miss out along with other long-term abstentees Mika Vayrynen, Patrick Kisnorbo and Davide Somma.

WEST HAM

• Joey O'Brien is likely to be back in the squad for the trip to Yorkshire, but injured quintet Ricardo Vaz Te, Winston Reid, Julien Faubert, Guy Demel and Papa Bouba Diop will miss out.
• Vaz Te is expected to be out for around a week, meaning he will miss Saturday's game and the home match with Middlesbrough on Tuesday.
• Ravel Morrison will be hoping to be involved once more after being on the bench for the first time against Doncaster Rovers. The midfielder scored a brace for the Development Squad in a 2-0 win at Brentford in midweek.

• LEEDS 15/8
• Draw 23/10
• WEST HAM 7/5

There will always be a place for me there as my family is steeped in the area I've also been lucky to marry into a family who actually has strong links in the clubs history. It's now though just a milked down version, quickly getting infultrated by cockney boy wannabees and bitter middle aged men who don't take it for what it is, or what it could possibly be as a fantastic day's out escapade.

You'd make a great advert for Sky Sports though as how you can pull those feelings out over what you are getting served up at the Boleyn these days on and off the pitch, you obviously don't have many memories of the old stadium with terracing as these days it's a walk in the park for the visiting support with the same old songs being repeated and only small sections of the home crowd taking part while the rest just sit there expecting free flowing passing football whilst contributing fuck all to encouraging them to do so.

I piss the modern Boleyn football experience, it's boring and lacks any characters just hard done by customers, and I too am glad I don't go because of this, as I don't do people who moan when they know full well what they've paid entrance to.

No you are completely correct I don't understand the comparasion because I've never been to a restaurant that makes grown men want to kill each other
I've never walked into a restaurant and had the hairs on the back of my neck stand up
I've never idolised chefs
I've never been to a restaurant that's given me scores of friends for life
And I haven't got gauchos tattooed on my arm

If you feel the same way about your local restaurant as you do about your football club I'm very very glad you don't go anymore because there is no place for people like you here

And by the way if spastic doesn't really cut it with you roughty toughty east end boys imagine how devastated I was when you came back with "you can't spell"

Norflundon I stopped going because none of that was appreciated, we quickly forgot we'd not long got promoted and all of a sudden mid table wasn't good enough after an amazing stunt to stay up. I don't expect you to understand the comparison after all you are from another part of London who feels proud to use the word spastic like it hurts, see we have thicker skins over this way son.

Well I can't agree I thought the atmosphere in 2006 was great and I thoroughly enjoyed going and if you can't enjoy a season when your playing attacking football beating the likes of arsenal away destroying the yids season and coming a whisker away from winning a major trophy then it is probably better you stopped going
As for your comparison the cafe at the end of my road that we are currently having a coffee in is a business and BP where I just filled my motor up is a business that both have customers but anyone who also said these business had anything in common would also come in the spastic bracket in my opinion

Reading and Southampton have a different view and will probably take the automatic spots.

I agree with Allardyce's opinion on yesterdays game. This was not a slip up. The draws at home recently were the slip ups. Gladly take a point away at Leeds.

soul destroying stuff out there. One thing is for sure our over hyped squad is just that.

Been shit since Nolan came back.

Re: Leeds v West Ham - Official Match Thread
I left it behind in 07 exactly because we had a fair season for us ,yet still it was a moany as fuck experience from the crowd with no atmosphere but loads of expectancy.

As for being a spastic, a restaurant is a business as is West Ham United, so they both have customers, except the customers of West Ham still keep going back thinking they are being disloyal if they don't, or have nothing better to fill their lives with, when in real terms it's West Ham the club who have been untrue to themselves and their traditions for the sake of 'the business' and it's long term future.

Business over Sport.... it's been it for a couple of decades now, and it's the main reason we are in this shitty period, as it's all about the best deal and not about who you are representing.

Side of ham

Firstly spelling isn't my strong point but I seem to get by and have a very good life thanks in sure your superior spelling means you have a much better life than me though

Secondly I never moan about our lack of success In fact from a selfish point of view I'd actually prefer if we don't go up as I actually enjoy the days out in the championship

You are right I can't stand the way we play and if we go up and the manager stays I probably won't re-new I say probably because I've got a lot of pals over west ham and if I stopped going I'd probably not see them any more
Not sure about you but my pals are a very important to me and and yesterday although the game was pretty shit the four of us had a great laugh driving up and the atmosphere in the ground was great

You say you gave up in 2007 which I find strange as that was after one of our most successful seasons in recent history

But I still stand by my original comment that anyone who compares west ham to a Restaurant is a complete spastic wether they can spell or not

Norflundon:

Going by your name you come from that area but you choose West Ham, over two more successful clubs in your area.

You I also take, like many moan about West Ham's lack of success even in the day to day things.

You can't spell.

I presume you still go, even though the football is against I take it your own footballing principles, and in effect you financially contribute to the shit that is served up the same shit that sits under the banner of English football in general.

I walked away in 2007, away from the experience that can only be described as 'like sitting in the lounge of an old people's home'
and them harping on about the good old days, whilst arguing over what tv channel should be on ( I've got a way to go before that is my fate).

So please tell who out of us 2 is the mug putting our club into the state it's in?

Suffered through this game on live 46 inch TV ...not a stream...

Glad we got a point...

The Football from us was dull uninspiring...some good passing from back to midfield...sideways and back again...

As usual very little creativity...slow buildups...never got behind their defence...and created very few clear cut scoring chances...

Leeds played like thugs...should have been down to 10 or 9 with an honest ref...

Like us Leeds also created very little...thankfully...and both goals came from corners...

Green & defence OK...

Midfield OK...but created very little...

Attackers..Isolated...few clear cut chances...

Maynard smallest player kept getting it hoofed to him...

We were better up front when CFC came on...
Collison did OK...despite missing a couple of chances...and poor through balls...Ravel hardly touched it it 15 mins on pitch...

Happy to get a point based on the flow of the game...but this is hardly Automatic Promotion form as Leeds were there for the taking if we had attacked them down the flanks with one or two speedy wingers...but we didn't have any of those ...

Well done Team for a gritty display...and well done Collins for showing the attackers how to score...

Says it all about a game if it was 1-1...and both goals came from corners ...

Despite the above...enjoyed seeing the Hammers live again on a Big Screen...and at least salvaging a point...
