West Ham v Middlesbrough - Official Match Thread 1-1
WEST HAM UNITED v MIDDLESBROUGH
npower CHAMPIONSHIP
TUESDAY 20 MARCH 2012
KICK-OFF: 7.45PM

• West Ham United welcome Middlesbrough to the Boleyn Ground on Tuesday evening looking to continue their impressive unbeaten run at home that stretches back nine games to the beginning of December.

• Middlesbrough travel to east London looking to bounce back from two defeats in a row at the hands of Leeds United and Birmingham City.

• The fixture between the two sides at The Riverside earlier this season in November saw West Ham United gain a valuable three points with a 2-0 win courtesy of goals from Carlton Cole and Freddie Piquionne.

TEAM NEWS

WEST HAM

• West Ham United are waiting on the fitness of James Tomkins and Abdoulaye Faye. Big Sam is optimistic they may both return but has options in midfield should Tomkins not make it.
• Gary O'Neil, Henri Lansbury and Ravel Morrison are all standing by to step in should they be needed.
• Guy Demel and Papa Bouba Diop are still long-term injured, while Ricardo Vaz Te, Julien Faubert and Winston Reid are all still struggling with hamstring, groin and head injuries respectively.

MIDDLESBRO

• Middlesbrough will once again be without key midfielder Barry Robson, who serves the second game of his three-match ban. Rhys Williams will miss the game with an ankle injury, while Faris Haroun's remains a doubt with a hamstring problem.

SKY BET
• WEST HAM 4/5
• Draw 5/2
• MIDDLESBRO 7/2
REFEREE

• Tuesday evening's referee will be Scott Mathieson.
• Mathieson has taken charge of two West Ham United fixtures this term. Mathieson took charge of West Ham's 1-0 home win against Barnsley in December and their victory at Doncaster Rovers in August by the same score line.

We were unlucky tonight. On another we might have had 3 or 4.

The style of play is awful Too slow. I am staring to think it mught be Nobels fault mainly. He flatters to decieve in my opinion. Had an awful game tonight.

Nolan is what he is. But we need some creativity..alongside.Yossi would be nice.

Dire Neanderthal rubbish tonight
Can't pass, can't move , midfield like a glacier.
In the wrong boots.
Tomkins is a centre half
Nolan might as well be buried up to his neck in the centre circle.

Was out training and missed the game. Seems the same old shit. You'd think Sam would realise his style wasn't working and would change it.
I'm tired of managers who persevere with a tactic and players that clearly don't work. Thought Sam was different, obviously not!!

Players playing out of position , no creativity , complete negativity etc etc etc

In fact, just cut and paste that after every game.

credit to Middlesborough for a team made up largely of local kids they played us well. a fantastic equaliser, For me the game changed when Carew came on , Hate to say it but the big fella is fast becoming a spectator. If Baldock had played alongside Cole from the beginning , I think it wouldve been a different story.

The booing at half time is about the way we approach the game! We're meant to be trying to win the league, not avoid relegation by grinding out points. But we're slow and ponderous and lacking collective urgency. Didn't look scared to me tonight....just didn't know how to open them up because the tactics they've been told to employ simply weren't working.

I didn't realise there was such a thing as a shit goal. The things you learn on here!

Disappointing but still not the end of the world. Definitely time to be more expansive, ironically when our only natural wide players are missing.

Couldn't understand the booing when level at half time.

is it me or does Baldock always look lively and a threat when he comes on compared to our other Strikers..?

looks a natural to me...perhaps we should give him a few more chances!!

Sounded like he's losing it to me trying to convince himself that he knows best and clutching at straws...got a real 'everyones against us' mentality coming on!

Re: West Ham v Middlesbrough - Official Match Thread 1-1
19 minutes to go and he brings off both strikers for a guy we had all basically thought had unofficially been let go, its not as if we hadnt conceded any late goals this season, it was so so obvious we needed a second goal, this staggering amount of fear and negativity is being generated by the manager,
why the mission to keep playing a centre half in a holding midfield role!!! why are we fucking playing a holding midfielder at home anyway!!!!!!!
