Reading "Game Plan" for Saturday
|
|
Apparently Reading have a game plan for Saturday's game.
Mu guess is flood the midfield, stiffle the game, wait for the crowd to start to get on West Ham's back as passes start to get misplaced, hit them on the break where possible.
Anyone think different?

They won't play for a draw, they'll come out and batter us

I think Reading won't try to stifle us, I think they will come looking for an early goal. They have been quite cavalier away from home and they know that a Reading goal in the first 15 will turn the crowd into feeling like its a home game for them.

early goal required in this one to force reading out..... they will play for a draw as have most teams at UP this season.... if its still goaless after an hour I fear the worst for us

SA: ‘I asked, “What style do you want?” I’d done my homework. I don’t want conflict. I can’t fight it. I can’t stop it. I just get on with it. I can tell you what I think the West Ham Way is... win and they’re happy. You can’t get more entertainment than the Peterborough game: for 30 minutes they were really into us and then it was deplete, punish and then totally destroy your opposition.’

With their remaining fixtures, I actually think they need the three more than we do. If we get three, I think we will take an automatic spot and can still possibly catch Southampton.

Their change of pace is potentially the biggest problem since that is our biggest weakness and especially when we are at home with the onus on us to attack. With 4 in midfield we have often been opened up by teams who sit back but have that change of pace to counter effectively. Its been going on for a while and predates Allardyce.
Thats why I like the holding midfielder role. But that role means we end up with 5 in midfield when Nolan is in the side. Damned if we do, damned if we dont.
I can see why BFS sets up with 5 to start and one up front which leads to the longer ball up to the target man. He then waits to see how the game goes before deciding to bring on the mobile strikers like Maynard and Baldock. Many fans say we should start positively with the little guys up top but with 4 in the middle, The "go for it" versus "protect what you got" approaches :) Some say go for it and at least know you did. Great until you get tonked.
Shame we aint got a Behrami in the squad (the fit, motivated one we had for the first 12 - 14 months). He was very mobile, covered evert blade of grass and gave the opposition little time on the ball, constantly hustling them. Had a great engine too, Its the unsung "water carrier" role. We need someone quicker than Noble doing it.
I just hope we give them our best and keep it as tight as possible (ooh errr) and take any chances we actually make.

They have a very useful variety of strikers.mostly under 30 years of age, some midfielders that are able to change pace, and use the width of a pitch with creativity, shoot powerfully from distance and a defence that can be quite porous,
We will beat them ,but make no mistake this Reading side has a primary goal set on Win

"Apparently Reading have a game plan for Saturday's game."
Every team has a game plan every week, whether it works or not is a different matter.
It's called tactics

This thing about getting us to turn on our players is a fucking cliche, we can see if they are playing or not, if they play for us it doesn't happen. Fuck this pathetic attempt by Reading at mind games, they are scared stiff otherwise why would they be spouting off so much pre-match?
