Sam and the team needs you!!
This is not an attention seeking post or one to stir up the hornet's nest but I just feel I need to post this.

Yes, Sam's tactics and formations have been and are questionable. Alot of people don't like them or, in fact, him. He does things his way and is starting to come across as a bit arrogant. Understandable in a way as he's probably a bit cheesed of with all the negative response from the supporters.

But whatever differences of opinions and lack of personal likeablity one thing that we all know is that Sam wants exactly what we want. Promotion.

So right now is not the time for airing your dirty laundry and questioning everything he does. Right now Sam needs all of our full support and backing. And if you can't do it for Sam do it for the team. The boys need you more than anything right now and any rift will affect them and our chances.

The next few weeks are the most important for this club for a long time. Let's all be one and united and pull the club back up into the PL.

Leave all the questions and debates until it's all over because now is the time for support. Not constant sniping and digs.

We know we can do it but we must concentrate on doing what we do best. Supporting the boys. Forget all the negative and get behind the boys and sing your hearts out at the games right up until the end.

Positivity will win through.

You Irons!!

Re: Sam and the team needs you!!
Leroys: Tinted specs? Sorry for trying to be positive.

My point was that all fucking season this has been going on. On here, on the pub and at the games. The debate about Allardyce. Yes, we kow people don't like him or his formations and tactics. But it's becoming a bit fucking tedious now especially with the position we are in. I think the important thing now is to really get behind the team and leave out all the negative stuff until the season's over.

Is it so bad to make a point like that?

And Chester: Yes, Sam did have a little dig at the beginning when he questioned what the "West Ham way" had won us in the last 30 years. But all the West Ham fans I know agreed with him! We'd won fuck all doing it "The West Ham Way" so what was the difference in trying a different way? That was his point. And I think it's a very valid one.

But I do think he has made a mistake with these latest comments. You can clearly see they are born out of frustration. There has been a massive cloud of negaitivity over the club in the last five or so games. His detractors have not gone away all season and it appears that there is a large mahority just waiting for him to slip up so they can say "I told you so".

As someone pointed out earlier someone posted on here recently they hope we don't go up so Sam fucks off. To me, that is fundamentally wrong.

So I can see where he os coming from but I believe he has made a grave error that I struggle to see is repairable. If he is still manager next season, regardless of promotion or not, I will be be very suprised.

He's called a section of the support as deluded. And I agree with him. At Peterborough it nearly went off near me because a young geezer was calling for Cole's head and an older geezer said to him "Maybe it's better if you just tried to support him instead of digging him". The young geezer gobbed off and got royally put in his place when the older geezer offered him out.

But that's not good is it? Instead of supporting we have fans fighting each other. It just seems all a little weird to me.

Supporters have an absolute right to air views on managers. I have done it in the past and will do it again. But it's just been going on and on and on and all I am saying is let's support him and the team and get promoted. Then worry about it after the last ball is kicked.

Obviously the clique don't agree and have told me what they think of my post. Personally I thought it was a sensible and valid point to make.

Re: Sam and the team needs you!!
I think the fans need to let the team know we do support them and make it clear it's Allardyce we have the problem with. It must be just as frustrating for them to have to play Allardyce's system as it is for us to watch it.

Alternating chants supporting the fans and cunting off the fat prick are what is needed.

Re: Sam and the team needs you!!
I fucking hate these threads, the claret and blue tinted specs view of things

The team have not won at home in ages at the business end of the season but we all have to support "Sam" cos you say so !?!

I detest to be told how to support my team

Re: Sam and the team needs you!!
Sadly, we're in an age where instantly voicing your own opinion easily out-trumps publicly showing support for your team.

What is worse is that these people try to justify doing so with comments ranging from "I've paid good money..." through to "I've followed this team man & boy since..." and all points in between.

The internet gives a perceived anonymity to these clowns who, in earlier times would have been labelled as "just liking the sound of their own voice" but today can best be described as the type of person who gets a little stiffie when he realises what he's posted can be seen all around the world (not that, in reality, it is, mind you). Look at me! Me! ME! I & my opinion are far more important than the team!

I agree with the sentiment in the OP - show your displeasure by offering (the players) more encouragement, not with a display of angry negativity.

Bite your lip, at least in public, until the end of season debriefing, where we can then ALL display our biblical understanding of all aspects of the game.

Have to agree with you. In the end results are everything.

I dont thnk there is an alternative that is better currently. Well one that would come to UP with our financial situation etc... but those stats are the reason behind the backlash. We talk about style and his comments and personality but 3 out of 11 aint good enough. Yes he is accountable and the best way to fix things would be to get promotion.

Unfortunately, and against Fordy's opinion, teh loss of Noble has convinced me it will be playoffs and defeat at the hands of another of our nemesis clubs .... Birmingham. 89th Zigic winner at UP again no doubt :-(

Re: Sam and the team needs you!!
Spot on that, face.

I haven't yet called for him to go, as far as I'm concerned he has six, or nine, games to achieve promotion. But, if he is so unhappy, leave. He isn't as good as he thinks he is, and his recent keegan style meltdowns have been divisive.

Bottom line is we've won 3 in 11, and 0 in 6 at home. It isn't good enough. He's blamed the players, the refs, the media and the fans. Only one place left to look to try to improve things, but he seems intent on getting into a war with the fans in order to salvage his reputation rather than look there.

Nobody seemed to moan when we were making our feelings clear about his mate DIOUFY.

BFS copped the hump about that too.

Re: Sam and the team needs you!!
I'm just about old enough* to remember the Lyall out days. That was worse than anything nowadays, or in recent years to my mind.

though, I'd say the vocal support started to die off once it went all seater and the prices went up, too.

Whilst the stands have quietened, the venting seems to go more to the forums, which IMO is at it's worst currently since I've been on here.

Never imagined someone could call for the manager to be sacked when we were top of the League.

*all right easily old enough.

Re: Sam and the team needs you!!
Getting what, AE? Have there been widespread chants if allardyce out? No. There's been Fuck all.

The only sad thing about what's changed in the last 20 years is the apathy. This wanker wouldn't have lasted 5 minutes twenty years ago, the day he arrived and made his snidey little digs people would have been on him.

Mourn that, by all means, but let's not perpetuate the myth there was any less abuse of players and managers back then. It's a complete fallacy.

ChesterRd 11:40 Wed Apr 4
Re: Sam and the team needs you!!
I also want to add that the OP has got a nerve lecturing fellow supporters on the importance of a united front when Allardyce was still digging away calling us deluded a couple of days before the Reading game.

North Bank 11:37 Wed Apr 4
Re: Sam and the team needs you!!
Greenwood what are you on about?

Because of the age we're in, then current managers are more open to abuse through social media networks, back in the day Lyall used to get some grief from pockets of fans predominantly the Chicken Run, fans now sing "we want Di Canio" and "we play on the floor".

Hammer and Pickle 11:35 Wed Apr 4
Re: Sam and the team needs you!!
Stewie.

You are going up the wrong channel here.

Allardyce wants to work out if he really is West Ham United or quit and take the club on in the courts when he fucks up this season's promotion.

Simple really.

Athletico Easthamico 11:35 Wed Apr 4
Re: Sam and the team needs you!!
Didn't Lyall get the team relegated in his first year?

The crowd were on the pitch at the end chanting "We'll support you evermore"

Lyall was in charge a long time before the crowd started to turn on him.

BFS is getting it already.

ChesterRd 11:33 Wed Apr 4
Re: Sam and the team needs you!!
The OP seems to have missed the pertinent fact that Allardyce made the mistake of taking the fans on. He had a few cheap digs when he arrived but what is unacceptable and certainly wont be forgiven is the way he has scapegoated the fans the last few weeks. The result has been a disgusting shitstorm about us from Allardyce's mates in the media and others looking for a cheap headline. Allardyce might need us but once a manager slags off the support there is only one winner. We'll support the team as we always do in vast numbers, he can take a hike.

Care to point out where Big Fat Cunt has had the same level of abuse thrown at him as Lyall and Greenwood did then?

Re: Sam and the team needs you!!
stewie if that's the conclusion you draw then you'd be wrong

Then again you seem very punchy with no foundation and like many on here that rant and rave about little, come across as a petulant kid

Sorry you didn't get the ammunition you were looking for, still you could always make it up, again

stewie griffin 11:26 Wed Apr 4
Re: Sam and the team needs you!!
Thanks, so, in conclusion, the support 20 years ago was more moany and more abusive than the support is today. And toward a much better manager than the one we have now.

Appreciate you clearing that up for me, and its nice to finally put that lie to bed once and for all.

North Bank 11:23 Wed Apr 4
Re: Sam and the team needs you!!
stewie so what if some from my generation dug out Lyall, what's that got to do with me?

We also stuck with the team through thick and thin and didn't whine and bitch about every little thing that we disagreed with like the MotM award

What I think is that the season isn't over despite what some of you girls think and that we have everything to play for.

I support West Ham, not my favourite manager

stewie griffin 11:18 Wed Apr 4
Re: Sam and the team needs you!!
And the second question, did this happen or not?

One more, do you think 0 (ZERO) wins from 6 home fixtures in the championship, with the biggest wage bill, is acceptable? And one more, do you think that the manager of any club, anywhere, would not be under pressure having failed to win in 6 home fixtures?
