car insurance advice

|
mrs jfk was involved in a 5 vehcile accident in the dartford tunnel on tuesday evening thankfully no-one was seriously injured. The responsible person's insurance company is contacting her directly for information. Does anyone know if this is common practice?Surely this is not right, ethically? Obviously seeking legal advice. Is this appropriate under the insurance code of conduct?

Thanks for the help all,the main thing is none of the innocent parties involved were seriously hurt.Shasta Mcnasty that is more or less what i thought.without causing too much upset ,I am amazed either of the two pricks who caused it were insured at all.

I was caught in the traffic jam that this caused - we were coming back from Gatwick following a holiday. Little did we know our house had been burgled whilst we were away and my wife's car had been torched - dealing with the car insurer whatever the situation is not easy.

jfk, if they call all your missus should do is reaffirm her insurance details and contact number for them to contact her insurers. The insurer of the responsible party is trying to avoid having to payout for repair on 5 cars so wants to get conflicting stories to avoid paying out, thus leaving Mrs jfk having to claim for the damage through her insurers, having to pay the excess and possibly losing no claims.

I reversed into some twonk in a BMW in a car park at Heathrow. I hardly touched him, and there was no damaged, but he was ranting in raving so I swapped insurance details anyway.
What a chod.

Last month some muppet reversed in to me in the car park at Heathrow. After a minor rant we swopped details. Within half an hour of getting home his insurance company got in touch, told me had had admitted full responsibility - not difficult when I was stationary - organised contact numbers for the repair work and hire vehicle. Everything ran smooth as clockwork, the work was done within two weeks and the beemer is lovely once again.

She should tell them where to go. Don't answer any questions its for her insurance to do the talking.
