Allardyce's latest deluded stream of bollox
West Ham boss Sam Allardyce says he does not know if his side are capable of ending their home form hoodoo.

The Hammers have not won any of their last seven games at Upton Park.

He told BBC London 94.9: "I just don't know if the team is going to go out and get that victory because it has been so long that we've waited.

"The longer it goes on the harder it is. We can only do it by continuing to do the right things in and out of possession and not making mistakes."

He added: "The best teams in the country are the [ones that are] best at defending and winning the ball back.

"If we want to win automatic promotion, we've got to get both ends right."

West Ham host Brighton on Saturday, and Allardyce has encouraged his players to learn from their shortcomings in recent games against fellow promotion candidates Reading and Birmingham.

"When we actually start getting our front men putting the ball in the back of net, our defensive side goes under," he continued. "That surprises me a great deal.

"We let it happen against Reading when we got in a fantastic position. To lose the way we did was shocking. I went home and couldn't believe it.

"To repeat it against Birmingham surprised me yet again.

"We must not gift the opposition goals."

i can't see us going up.
We will not catch either Reading or Soton, and will probably lose in play off final to Birmingham.
BFS will be there for one more season that will be superceded by Paolo Di Canio by the resurgent Swindon.

There's a fair bit of journalistic licence in here, I think. He talks positively about our chances in the column HE writes today

Criticism has been merited but not constructive, hence we've had this problem for a few seasons at home, can't think what the only constant is?

Re: Allardyce's latest deluded stream of bollox
End of the day, if he says something like this & admits his own failings and the team's, there will always be people who say that he's admitted failure, it will demotivate the players, he's lost the plot/dressing room etc.

...and if he came out and said how great everything was, he'd get hammered for being deluded and arrogant and not recognising the problems he's created.

Eddie's thread is remarkable though, for combining the two

Some have an agenda or an opinion on someone and will exaggerate all negative occurances in order to highlight their view.

That said, some of the criticism levelled at Meatloaf and the players in recent weeks has been merited, if not the level of it.

Not as worrying as his ridicolous attempts at positive attacking tactics he has.

Why does it show that? His players have made stupid mistakes in these games, the kind you pay a professional footballer huge amounts of money not to make, there's no tactics involved.

4 straight wins would indeed shut some people up - but sadly that seems an unlikely scenario
