Just checked & he did score in that 1-5 game in Nov 75.
Of course in West Ham style they then beat us at Upton Park the following March.

Agree. He does dislike us and every time i have heard him commentate against us it always seem bias to the opposition.
So on that fact i hope he survives but is a vegetable,

Me and my brother both used to say how much Francis seemed to hate west ham. It soon became apparent, especially after getting an internet connection that we weren't alone. Still, I suppose he was a decent player.

I don't know whether is me misremembering but I always had it in my mind that he scored after 5 mins in a mid-70's game at St Andrews that we then ended up winning 5-1.
Hope it's right as I think of it whenever I come across his whiney droning commentary which DOES betray a dislike of West Ham.

i remember francis commentating on one of games just after dani signed, might have been tottenham away.
the other commentator made some remark along the lines of what a great player dani was supposed to be to which francis replied 'if he's so good what's he doing signing for west ham?'
that was about 1995 i think, weird how one little throwaway comment like that can lead me to have a 17 year and counting dislike for the bloke.
hopefully he makes a recovery but once he does i hope a thousand smaller yet more annoying fates befall him (ie his toast popping up only for him to realise there's no butter or marj in the house)

Can remember at the time what a big deal was made of the £1m fee.
I know he won the European Cups with Forest but always felt more was expected of him as a player. Surprised to hear he had 50 odd caps for England as I can't recall him making any impression at all in internationals.

He does seem to have an anti West Ham bias though even allowing for paranoia.

My mate dislikes him quite a lot because when all Cloughie's old players came out on to the pitch to commemorate his life after he died (I think it was at Forest and they were playing us, as it goes) he was, apparently, wearing jeans and looked a scruffy fucker, whereas the others all had suits on.
I can't vouch for this as I haven't seen it/don't remember it, just what my mate told me.

Worked out in a gym still. Probably stopped it being fatal but just goes to show, fitness and diet aint no guarantee. Its yer genes innit.
Not a lover of his commentating as he always sounds like he has a bad cold but I wish him well and a speedy recovery.
