Tv Box sets thread again - recommendation pls
Just finished The Killing liked it a lot but not really the last season as much.

Breaking Bad, Homeland done

Was going to do Luther or The Wire next - can you tell me which one is best of the two?

as long it avoids that stupid plot from The Defenders I'll enjoy it, they really fucked that up

Trapped was excellent.

Really enjoyed Stranger Things. It's daft but I think it's really well done.

Agreed, Miike, it was always going to be hard for Punisher to meet those expectations. Be warned, it drags on. Anyway, hopefully, it'll pick up 2nd half of the season.

Been mentioned before but 'Trapped' is worth watching, about a mysterious murder in a town in Iceland, only 1 series in.

not started it yet, always thought it would be hard to match that prison fight scene from The Daredevil series

finished stranger things, last two episodes were good but fuck knows what they were thinking with episode seven

Anyone else started on The Punisher

Almost half way through, bit disappointing so far but I'm hoping it picks up.

I'm on season 2 of The Girlfriend Experience. It's about a nympho law student who becomes an escort. I'd give it a 7/10.

Season 2 has different characters. Anna Friel plays a gay government bod, and unlike in Brookside, gets her kit off.

Watched The DEUCE recently 8 eps of New York circa1971 prostitutes, pimps, drugs, police corruption.

James Franco Maggie Gyllenhall in some of the most explicit sex scenes I've ever seen on tv

Good story as well

watching the second series of stranger things, started well but gradually losing its way with a couple to go. another three or four series would be a bad idea

struggled through tin star but did enjoy the last 3-4 episodes when everything came to fruition.

Is there going to be a second season do we think? or are they just going to leave it on that cliff-hanger ending? not sure what else there is for them to do in a 2nd season

Not really a box set as such, but someone told me to watch Taskmaster (Greg Davies hosted show) recently and I absolutely love it.

Very funny indeed.

neco, I can see the next series if they bring it back featuring him on a different case. he just plays a unhinged character better than anyone since dennis hopper

Glad you enjoyed it & agree about Bill Pullman, he was excellent in that role.

A certain episode near the end really psyched me out, was thinking about it all night.

Good to see it's finally on Netflix UK.

Also thought the misuse of Christina Hendricks assets criminal as well.

Claypole

I think the argument there is that the drunk chief remembered nothingnof his actions when he sobered up. But he would have remembered them when he was drunk because he was two people effectively. Very odd

Whitey was a decent character in the end - butvthe weird dancing shit at the start was just so random, whilst the side story of the evil oil firm went off in an odd direction too

Sortbof came together ok by then end but wasn't really worth the effort and a waste of a decent cast and good idea

I thought tin star was quite strange in the fact that nobody knew who each other were despite the fact that they must have met 10 years previous. Enjoying Vice principles, thought snowfall was good as well. The Vietnam doc was excellent and showed what a sneaky fuck Nixon really was.

I agree about Tin Star, I gave up after two episodes

I thought Ozark was average

will watch Sinner next

Sniper 2:25 Thu Nov 9
Re: Tv Box sets thread again - recommendation pls
Tin star was really disappointing

If the whole thing had been like the final two episodes it may have been much better, but tonally its all over the shop - stuck somewhere between gritty and dark comedy, but none of the actors are on the same page. Tim Roth is just tim Roth-y and the actual concept of the whole thing plays out very oddly.

The lack of actual emotion shown by two parents after their son is shot in front of them is also absurd

Re: Tv Box sets thread again - recommendation pls
I enjoyed Ozark, currently half way through Mindhunter, it's a slow burner but i'm liking it.

The Sinner with the lovely Jessica Biel is my favourite of the year so far.
