Recommend a Documentary

Been a while since we've had one of these, and the nights are drawing in, so I need something new to watch.
A few to get things going..
"Cold War" (1998) Series made by the same people who did 'The World at War'. Covers the period from 1945 to 1991. This is episode 1, the same person's put up all the other episodes too.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8SuSbJ-zlos
"To Mars by A-Bomb: The Secret History of Project Orion" (2002) BBC film about the Cold War era plan to build an ocean liner-sized spaceship, propelled by endless external nuclear explosions. Fascinating from start to finish. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=znmZeEycRwE
"Reggae" (1971) Film about the 1970 Wembley reggae festival. Live clips, interviews, etc. If you like old ska/reggae you'll love it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qjyDZvlRNY4

Yeah seen that 100 foot wave.. absolutely love a Big wave film/doc... two of the best are Riding Giants and the superb Billabong Odyssey .... in which has one of the greatest openings of anything ever seen on the screen.

I've done a bit of surfing ... mainly Newquay and in California (one of my fav days ever was taking my girl out in the waters of Seal Beach and getting her to ride a few waves in)... love the scene... used to pop down to Newquay for the surf champs... met a few of the big boys... even had Kelly Slater feed my 9 month old daughter whilst sitting outside a bar on Fistral beach... the pro's have a great outlook of life... just don't care... as long as they get a bit of sponsorship to get them around the world to the tournaments they don't care... happy sleeping on a beach... only thing I noticed is the lack of teeth... always getting a board in the face... if I could live my life again their choice would not be a bad way of giving a go.

Haz, we watched a documentary a few years back about Garrett McNamara ,the surfer.
How he obsessed about this place he had heard about in Portugal having the biggest waves in the world, Nazarre.
So he started going there and through word of mouth in the surfer community it became this Mecca of surfing from November to March.
As a result of that doc it was a bucket list for my wife and I to go there, and we did
Stunning place, great spectacle sitting on the hill surrounding watching them surf, ridiculous size waves, 100 foot as you say
I'd say if anyone were visiting Lisbon it's not far to go visit for the day

Yea, I did, thought it was decent, think it proved that going to uni isn't always the dream ticket.
I like Norcott, halfway way through his latest book and going to see him next month. His weekly podcast is also very good

What LH knows about documentaries could be written on a postage stamp. He did, of course, famously direct "Brexit the Movie - A Celebration of Everything that is Right with England".

agree - i thought it was all a bit flat; the Murdaugh one (the Netflix one, not the SKY one) was much better

claypole... excellent watch that .... real double edged sword... do NASA tell the crew they are fucked or not... only positive I could see out of it is that the crew could have said goodbye to their love ones... think I'd have rather not known myself.
