...and resurrect another species that's died out in its place, what would you choose?
Me - I'd get rid of any type of housefly/bluebottle and replace it with the sabre-toothed tiger.

I'd stamp out Pandas. Nature has selected them for extinction yet the world is obsessed with keeping them going. They won't fuck, basically, let the black and white bastards die out.
I'd resurrect the Dodo. I fancy one for a pet.

Oldest fossils are reckoned to be 3.5 billion years old.
If humans were all to be wiped out next Tuesday I think it would take several hundred million years for all the relatively easy to find evidence of our existence to be 'lost'.
I don't think earth will ever completely shake of evidence of homo sapiens, not until the sun goes supernova.
If I could play god (don't believe in that crap by the way) I would definitely get rid of homo sapiens. Only knocking around for 150,000 years or so (that's no time at all) and a bit of a fuck up really.
Think I'd bring back the great auk.
