Team for away leg
|
Adrian Jenkinson Henry/Oxford/Reid/Ogbonna Hendrie Obiang Nolan Amalfitano Jarvis Lanzini Zarate
None of the above will feature against Arsenal 3 days later apart from Adrian and or Reid/Ogbonna,
What is more important, going through or the Arsenal?

We have SEVEN fit CBs (Reid will be I think) available for Sunday. All 3 youngsters should have gone to Romania no question.

Apparently Jenkinson may be playing centre back tonight!

I would say Lanzini is a fitness thing.

Putting aside the dreadfully gutless and stupid decision to play a mickey mouse side in Europe, there are a couple of things that I'm not quite getting:
1) Lanzini - obviously not seen as a first team player, this surprises me. Why did we bother?
2) Jenkinson - why arent we worried about him getting injured tonight? Everyone else is wrapped in cotton wool, obviously he cant play against Arsenal but of everyone in the squad I'd worry about getting injured it's him as we have no backup for him. Seems a strange decision to me.
3) Motivationally speaking Bilic has already told this group of players that they wont be playing against Arsenal. What incentive does any of tonights team have to put a shift in if its not forcing your way into the first team by playing well? I think we can expect a few to just go through the motions tonight making sure they dont jeopardise their inevitable move elsewhere.
This is an absolute fuck up from start to finish. I predict a loss by 2 or 3 tonight and the same against Arsenal.

I just don't get it. Players of that age would benefit greatly from just travelling with the squad let alone actually playing (which they would have been)
It does seem to me that Bilic has lost the plot before the league campaign has even started.
Worrying indeed

No Oxford, Burke or Samuelson in the squad rather bizarrely.

KAKS and Trevor. Don't think Oxford has travelled according to all sources and the video of players training in Bucharest. Strange as he was talking up and looking forward to the game, but then Noble said the same.

maybe, but after losing two players to injury you cant blame the manager for wanting to hold back a sub in case of another.

I fancy us too. But will that make Bilic a decent(ish) manager again or will he have to beat Arsenal as well? I can't keep up these days.

"This place will be unbearable tomorrow if we go out. The knicker wetting and hysterical shrieking this week has been on an impressively high level already."
I thought about that. But surely as 99% of the divs on here think that we've already lost the tie, surely they have nothing to be surprised about?
I still think we're gonna beat the gypos.

Trevor B We were 2-0 and cruising, 55 mins gone time for Oxford to go in the back 4 and Poyet to come to give him game time. I honestly thought we were going to win 4-0 before bonehead received his 2nd yellow. But agree he should of not committed himself

You all assume that, that squad is weaker than the other one left at home. Who know this lot may prove even stronger and will win,.....the first leg didnt quite go to plan did it now !!!

Especially as Collins had said to the press how the team needed to be careful before the match....

had we not lost two players already to injury and been left with no other defender on the bench then perhaps bilic may have subbed him. of course you could also suggest that an experience professional footballer, nearly 32 years of age, shouldnt have to be taken off to protect him from his own idiocy against any team, let alone the lower league opposition we were facing.

Two poor mistakes by BILIC already who I thought was keen on European football. I approved of appointment BTW. The line up today then not taking Collins of when all and sundry could see he was going to be sent off with that ref and the play acting going on.
