Doneil Henry back to Blackburn on loan
|
Lancashire Telegraph
BLACKBURN Rovers have re-signed defender Doneil Henry on loan from West Ham United.
The 22-year-old centre-back, who impressed during a short spell on loan at Rovers last season that was cut short by injury, has put pen to paper on an initial deal that will see him remain at Ewood Park until January 3.
Henry told the club's official website: "It is great to be back here again, it is a great club.
"The last time I was here I felt really welcomed, I got tossed in right away and felt it was made really easy because of how great the guys were here.
"So I'm just looking to train hard and play my part and give all I have for the team." Share article
New Rovers boss Paul Lambert said: "I'm delighted to be able to bring Doneil back. I know that he did very well last time he was here, prior to his injury.
"We felt that it was important to add an extra body to the defensive department and Doneil was the obvious choice."

A nice swap with Rhodesy is most appealing.

They usually have considered him injured when they talk about selection, for a while.
He was one of the stars of the future, MLS and national team-wise at least before the year he knew he has been sold and was leaving. (That was pretty hit and miss.) That being said they get really excited if players go to top European leagues, especially the Premier League.

And what's the general feeling about Henry over there at the moment, IOC?
Has it been tempered a bit with him not getting a game?

Yes. Things not looking a complete mess for first time in a while.
MLS rookie of the year able looks to bang them in, Junior Hoilett committed finally and providing crosses. Bilic's old (and I stress old) standby Hutchison, rejuvenated in the midfield.
Henry probably would be playing if fit, has been in the past. The other starters in his position recently play in Japan, Norway and for Sheffield United. So not amazing.
But they have been tight at the back, even through the Gold Cup (Unfortunately did not score a goal in that tournament. )
Second (which is the last qualifying position) in their semi final group for 2018 but have yet to play Mexico.

Canada have got a blinding striker and isn't Junior Hoilett Canadian?
Every chance I've just made that up.
As for Henry, long way off the international team I reckon, as I don't think they're that bad nowadays. Pleased for him with this though.

A bit of a forgotten man. A strange signing considering the wealth of talent we've got coming through the ranks in that position.
