Officially now rated as : BIBLICAL York & Leeds under water and the Lake District now known as the Lake. Is this going to become more common place?

SHE deserves criticism for not letting the experts she's responsible for getting on with the job.
HER role is to find a way to allow them to do so, not fuck them off at every opportunity just so someone (else) can polish up their statistics - even if it means strolling into the Foreign Office, punching everybody on the nose then striding off with the "Foreign Aid Petty Cash Box" under her arm, and spending the money therein where it's actually needed.

I do at least partially blame the flood controls, but at some point people need to take responsibility for where they choose to buy a house,
And if you do choose to take the risk of living in a flood zone then pony up for decent flood insurance,

'Sven, the mps aren't for me the problem. The lords are. Over 1000 of them. We can abolish it and no one would miss it.'
You'll be doing just that in 2018 when they overturn the boundary changes. And it'll end not with a bang, but a whimper.

I see the floods in the north as punishment for the Rotheram asians exploiting girls.

Let someone who knows the fuck what's important in this matter get on and implement a solution.
That's what the environment agency is meant to to considering it's staffed by engineers and scientists.
You seem to want to find ways to criticise Liz truss come what may.

They should build houses like they do in Trinidad on concrete stilts and park the car under the houses. If they did that in the flood regions it would be problem solved.

Given she's the minister with RESPONSIBILITY for this particular issue, the government would have been lead by her in it's decision to ignore the evidence it's own agency provided.
She should have been set free and sent down the river as soon as the first "improved" or delayed flood prevention scheme failed, never to return, just like the possessions and treasures of many of those who voted her party into power.
Let someone who knows the fuck what's important in this matter get on and implement a solution.
The main issue is that flood prevention is a cost to the government but the cost of clearing up should/when that prevention fails is a cost to private companies (and hence, of which, the government don't really give a fuck).
Both costs need to be brought into the same budget - either let the insurance companies manage the (protection of the) environment or the government takes full responsibility for the clean-up/restoration charges.

Well she's been visting the flood victims and doing television appearances talking about the flooding as well as attending meetings on the problem.
Basically her job really.
Are you upset she's not personally sent you her schedule?

Head of Quango, the Environment Agency, as After8 so rightly pointed out, is not a Tory. He is an appointee. The fuckwit who IS sec of state for environment etc is a certain, Liz Truss. As perfect moron as you are ever likely to find. However, you'll have to look hard as she seems to be hiding at present...

No mike it's because the public are fickle and always support " putting experts in charge and taking away power from politicians". They also like "taking politics out of the issue".
Then whenever something goes wrong they want someone sacked.
The EA are staffed by scientists.

Isn't all this "Agency" malarkey just a legal firewall to ensure that if/when the shit hits the fan the buck stops one step short of the minister/parliament and they'll have no sword on which to fall?

Just going to point out that no conservative minister was sunning themselves in Barbados. It's a total lie.
The head of the environment agency was though. Thats not a ministerial position.
