Are we up for the cup?
I'm always up for it, and hated the Allardyce years because of the contempt he showed for the grand old competition.
So will Slav put out a strong side v's Wolves, and are the fans going to turn up in numbers?
I'm guessing they've sold their allocation, so hope it'll be a sell out.

Re: Are we up for the cup?
I'm still browned off that I didn't do as my missus asked me to do and bung a fiver on at 200-1 the morning of the 3rd round game at West Brom in 1980. A grand would have been a lot of cash back then.
So it's a score at 33's this time.

Re: Are we up for the cup?
I've sorted it so that we definitely reach the final this year.

Myself, Mrs, 5 year old and baby fly out on holiday on cup final morning. I told her at point of booking that if we reach the final I'm flying out on my own the following day. She laughed it off joking about us having no chance anyway.

When I'm waving them of on the morning of the 21st it could well lead to divorce !

With you there Any Old
But I'm also worried about Song, he played well for us for 4 months last year. I just don't think he's got the heart to put that extra in for the team. Arsenal fans will tell you the same. He's only got half season to show that he's that something special. I think BIlic has seen the same and that's why he took him of against Southampton with leaving him out against Liverpool altogether.
We can't afford to be complacent even against a weakened Wolves team (if that's the case) they'll see that straight away and eat it up.
Come on Song show the same spirit as the rest of the lads.
I want a Cup run this year.

I'm always up for the cup, both FA and League, and spit on those who aren't. Not to mention the relatively cheap ticket prices.
Also had a sneaky tenner at 33s.

I love the FA cup me.

Be nice to win it and then parade it, before we bugger off to Stratford.

Re: Are we up for the cup?
Got a tenner on us at 33/1... A club like us has got to fucking win another trophy sooner or later - why not this year?!... I know that it's more unlikely that we won't win it but I'm going to keep believing...

35 years (almost 36) is an absolute joke for a club like us... We should be winning at least one trophy a decade - don't think that's at all unrealistic...

I'd give Payet half an hour on saturday

Re: Are we up for the cup?
Payet is no more likely to be injured by Wolves than he would be by Borunemouth or Newcastle or EVERTON

We ALL want to see Payet play that's exactly why he shouldn't on Saturday

If Slav plays him against Wolves, I hope I'm not saying 'told you so' on Sunday !

Re: Are we up for the cup?
How many did we take to Wolves that time in the Cup (3-1) .... seemed a good 5k??

Re: Are we up for the cup?
3000 as big following?

Shocked they didn't take more considering the circumstances.

Any Old Iron 12:13 Thu Jan 7
Re: Are we up for the cup?
If we play a weakened side then we're likely to get dumped. With a big following behind them Wolves will be up for this big time.

But whatever team Bilic picks, it should not include Jelavic. The bloke is finished as a top flight footballer and should never get near our first team. The club should be trying to ease him out during this window.

Re: Are we up for the cup?
Think he will rest a few but as said below. If you can rest Noble and Kayoute for the likes of Obiang and Song who cares?

I remember when the premiership was deemed shit and people were looking forward to the championship!

All this eagerness for elite football surprises me!

Re: Are we up for the cup?
Should sack off the 4th place in the Prem for ECL spot... give it to the FA Cup winner... far more achievement winning the greatest football cup competition than a 4th place finish in the league... it would vitalise the way managers looked at teh Cup rather than a jolly day out at Wembley

Re: Are we up for the cup?
Let's be realistic. as fans we would all love to be up for the cup and have a decent run and go to wembley

the owners and slav at the start, decided to play very weakened teams in europe and say the right thing but underneath dont really care as that isnt where the money is, its a business not a sport at times...

i would like to think that to fit in an extra half a dozen games with our squad and the fact that we are pretty much assured as being safe and not going down this year that they give us a decent cup run and although we may need to rest some players, that we do put out a decent enough team and see us through to the next round.

i would like us to play a very strong team, be comfortable withinside 60 mins then take off key players.

id take a league finish of 17th right now along with a wembley fa cup final appearance.

Maybe, but I'll always remember the cup finals throughout the 80s when it actually meant something. Loved cup final day back then.
