Graeme Souness
Apart from the obvious 20 goal striker that we are missing, I think we are missing a tough tackling ball winner who can pass well and play a little if we are to build a team with European aspirations. We are getting kicked off the pitch and teams can see it works, first Everton now Liverpool. No protection from refs, Villa are desperate and I wouldn't be surprised if they get stuck in.

Graeme Souness, Tommy Smith, Roy Keane.

Billy Bonds, Paul Ince for us spring to mind, although Ince turned into this type of player more so after leaving. John Moncur used to do this quite well, but lacked top quality. Kevin Nolan when he first arrived could be intimidating although past his best.

Joey Barton is a player of this sort, nearly came and may have done a job, although I am pleased he wasn't welcomed.

Noble does well for his size, but lacks the strength and stature that we need. Kayoute is probably the nearest we have, but falls Arse over tit too much for my liking.

Anyone like this that we should be getting in? As we all know Bilic reads this into the early hours, which explains the sunken eyes :-)

Said it for weeks, we are screaming out for Obiang.

Why isn't he starting him. MUST play sunday.

Re: Graeme Souness
Obiang must be asking himself what he has to do to get a start.

Re: Graeme Souness
In his prime Souness was one hell of a player and up there with the very best IMO hard as nails, scored goals , fizzed 30 /40 yard passes to a sixpence used to rate him very highly in a good Liverpool team.

Re: Graeme Souness
don't know too much about him, decent age (25), lot of games in the Bundesliga (193) and a highly scientific* scouting report I did says he looks good

*I searched him in google and found him linked this year with Liverpool, Athletico Madrid and a return to Arsenal

Are we seriously holding up John Moncur as an enforcer to match Billy Bonds or Souness?

Re: Graeme Souness
Let's see people like Kouyate dish it out on a level playing field provided by the FA.

Of course they weren't about to put it about today after the last couple of months of obvious official bias.

totally agree, obiang should be starting

Re: Graeme Souness
Obiang needs to start even if it means we lose a bit of attacking threat...

Having the 2 wing backs as well we were always exposed...

Re: Graeme Souness
Could have done with his type tonight. Lanzini, Payet, Noble, Valencia all too lightweight and bullied off the ball tonight by Fellini, even gave Carroll a slap. Everton did the same. Obiang is the nearest we have got to a backbone.

Souness World Class? do me a favour.

Beckenbauer, Cruyff, Eusebio, Moore, Pele, Maradona, Messi. They are world glass players. Souness was never in that league.

Re: Graeme Souness
Bit before my time really was Souness and it's always extremely pointless comparing players who either never played against each other or never played against the same opponents.

Liverpool's record back then speaks for itself really and then on the other hand, a lot of that Arsenal team say that Vieira was the best midfielder they ever played with, which considering some of the clubs and players they played with, is high praise indeed.

One thing I know is that I fucking hated playing against that Arsenal team as those couple of French cunts in midfield were mustard in a top quality team.
