Absolute disaster.......wife out tonight, got home cat had shat everywhere. Little girls wanted pancakes, whipped up 2 batches of batter....all crap (I'm normally an ok cook) Ruined first 5, salvaged 4, ruined another few. Girls , bless them, added their toppings and said how nice they were....the uneaten mass told me other wise! Been doing dryathlon since 1st Jan but have poured a large glass of wine....fuck Pancake Day

cored and sliced two apples, fried them in a bit of butter and a bit of sugar. Let some stew down and some stay as they are and had them with pancakes. Was lovely.

Lemon and sugar is all you need it brings the flavour of the Pancake to the fore, whereas everything else just covers it and takes over.
The Pancake must be warm to taste nice though.

When I was young every year I would add one more to the previous years total... must of been about 1989 and I was up to 13 (same as the previous year)... my Mum made the 14th but it was a thick one... I only managed one mouthful before spending the whole night alternating between the bog and lying flat out on the floor... I was like Paul Newman in Cool Hand Luke after he ate all those pickled eggs

Have to do it tomorrow this year, but a savoury one first with cheese ham and broccoli, then maple syrup all the way!
The other half likes sugar and lemon juice.
