EU Referendum 23rd June 2016 declares Cameron
BBC
Britain will vote on whether to remain in the EU on Thursday 23 June, Prime Minister David Cameron has said.
The prime minister made his historic announcement in Downing Street after briefing the cabinet.
He said he would be campaigning to remain in a reformed EU - and described the vote as one of the biggest decisions "in our lifetimes".

again its not about an EU army - that's just pointless duplicating of NATO control and command structures. Its about streamlining capabilities so that individual EU nations dont have to duplicate resources, allowing more money to be spent on better material.

Is that not totally understandable, or do you want it to remain the fact that any time any shit goes down, Europe has to ask the US to actually do something about it?

And reading your pro-EU article I draw your attention to this -

"Alongside the European Defence Fund (EDF), Military Planning and Conduct Capability (MPCC) and Coordinated Annual Review on Defence (CARD) PESCO forms part of the EU’s ongoing efforts to establish itself as a bona fide global actor by developing – what the EU Global Strategy identifies as – strategic autonomy."

Re: EU Referendum 23rd June 2016 declares Cameron
UK, Denmark and Malta have all declined to be a part of PESCO leaving the other 25 going along with it.

Re: EU Referendum 23rd June 2016 declares Cameron
Despite alarmist voices coming from the fringes of the European political system, the guiding principles behind Permanent Structured Cooperation (PESCO) do not represent a single step toward the utopistic (and largely useless) idea of a unified European military force. PESCO instead represents a clear and present political opportunity for enhanced structural cooperation between like-minded (and ambitious) EU members within the realm of defence policy.

Yes but streamlining is not the same as forming an EU Army.

Is it any surprise that with a US president in hock to Moscow and denying article 5 of NATO that continental europe would look to stremline militaries? Weve been doing it ourselves bilateraly with France for some time.

Back on subject. I watched Daily Politics lunchtime and they were openly discussing the formation of the EU army with a €5bn initial budget and the formation of the USofE together with Poland's call for the return to a Christian identity for the EU....

The Daily Mail journalist there said that had these matters been openly discussed instead of being denied by remainers, the vote to leave would have been much greater. I happen to agree with him. I believe the whole concept of the EU has been one big lie fed to the sheep like population of mainland Europeans.

EU have now rubber stamped moving onto phase 2.

The next three months are going to be critical.

Transitional deal will be ironed out between now and when trade talks start in march. Trade talks 'heads of terms' have to be concluded by October, which is frighteningly little time.

Given that parliament now have oversight of the deal, and given that the EU are only allowing one shot at this otherwise default position (NI in SM and rest of UK out) they - government and parliament - need to start being honest about what they really want.

Given the challenges and the time frame, only a fucking fool would think they'd get a comprehensive FTA through. They should be looking at EEA with a few minor appeasements regarding freedom of movement.

Still this lot are run by David 'thick as mince' Davis, some fat useless failed journalist and an old windbag who seems impervious to actual real world events so who knows.

He'd have to put his own name at the very top of the list.

He might only claim he comes on here "to watch the action", but, come on here he does.

I commend the work of Poland rat.

Essentially he is a twerp magnet. He posts something up and the cohort of little englander right wing fists are attracted to it like flies to a dollop of fresh hot....The twerps are easily identifiable by their unimaginative, dull repetitive comments aimed at the rat.

Looking at the reducing traffic on this Board nowadays it can be seen how vital it is that the man in question keeps posting.
