H&P - If you have a job in France life is good, no doubt, but even Macron acknowledges their labour market needs far more flexibility and Trade Union reform, good luck on that one!

If you're a Muslim on a sink estate on the outskirts of Paris, life isn't so good!

The very same NJ. Their disposable income and purchasing power far exceeds the UK norm.

Aha. The old zero contracts and shitty jobs debate.

On that list of gdp per capita the funniest one is the CIA list showing all the British off shore tax havens.

H&P - Would that be the same France with an unemployment rate of 9.5% as compared to the UK's measly 4.3%, lowest since the mid 70's?

They have chronic youth unemployment as well, giving them massive social problems, that far outweigh anything in the UK! The French muslims are pissed off with life in France, as are Le Pen's supporters, not great for a country to be at peace with itself!

'If you actually read the Beveridge report it says in it...'

The Bereridge Report? The one written by a Liberal at the behest of a Tory PM who had been instrumental in setting up the welfare state 30 years previously? That Beveridge Report?

NHS created by Labour, my arse!

China is doing well because the sort of socialism they have in China is all about benefiting the Chinese people.

Over here all socialists care about is letting in every third world migrant and giving them British peoples money as benefits in the hope that they'll vote for them.

That's why lefties are so against leaving the EU; cos they think that free movement bolsters their share of the vote, cos they're too thick to realise most Romanians, Lithuanians and Polish are Christian conservatives and more racist than most English people.

France is fucked. It'll have boroughs and even regions governed by Islamic law within 20 years. But as long as a few Eurocrats have a bit of money that's all that counts.

Of course it is Thickle. That's why there are more French bankers in London than in Paris... but you are getting close to the problem. About as close as you are to London...

France is tough for doing business because it is over-regulated and labour lacks the proper incentives to put a shift in.

The UK is shit for doing business because it has an awful government that actively creates chaos so that a key bloc of entitlement culture work-shy proles vote for a cabal of safe-seat public school chinless wankers.

France is doing better than the UK.

The French legal system is based on Napoleonic Law. Quite a socialist he turned out to be eh?

Oh and btw it is a fallacy to think that in the U.K. You can simply rock up with your sickle and race. In fact there is a system set in place that requires a biker to first join a club and then pass up through ACU licensing and assessment procedures whereupon one becomes a novice and available to progress to clubman and national classes. Medicals undertaken too and everything is conducted in English.

Interesting mim. I have lived in heavily socialist France for nearly 11 years now. The rules and regulations of every-day life in France are rife and they do restrict every-day freedoms, almost imperceptibly.

They have the most ridiculous regulations for every aspect of life which is more about control of people than practical use.

For example they control inheritance. The law does not allow you to leave your money or property to anywhere except your family in prescribed amounts. When I ask why? No-one knows. That's the way it is.

Even for the most stupid of things like my pal that wanted to race his 1975 motorbike on French race tracks like Le Mans, Magny-Cours, Nogaro etc.

He first had to sit a formal French Government 40 minute exam that asked loads of questions (all in French of course) about green lanes, trials and moto-cross courses with just a few questions about flag signals at race tracks. It was an entirely pointless exercise.

Once he passed his exam that then allowed him to get a medical which consisted of a blood pressure test and the doc asking him if he felt OK! Then and only then, could he apply to join a racing club...

Socialism is all about big government that inevitably interferes in every walk of life because it can and feels it should control what you do and how you do it....

Hayzer, if you look at the municipal housing stock that dates from the immediate post WW2 period you'll see that it was a good spec and to this day it is still in good condition standing in reasonable surroundings. Consider Basildon as an example...there are countless others. The brutalist stuff came much later in a different era and was erected during both Tory and labour government stewardships.
