EU Referendum 23rd June 2016 declares Cameron
BBC
Britain will vote on whether to remain in the EU on Thursday 23 June, Prime Minister David Cameron has said.
The prime minister made his historic announcement in Downing Street after briefing the cabinet.
He said he would be campaigning to remain in a reformed EU - and described the vote as one of the biggest decisions "in our lifetimes".

At the moment, if there are 3 people in the world who have identical qualifications & experience to perform a particular role in a vacancy a UK company has, if one comes from Poland, one from India and one from Brazil, the protectionism towards those from the EU zone in not having to demonstrate their ability to a 3rd party to even be considered for the role is an outright disgrace.

I think an issue of equal importance, is why the UK has skills shortages in some areas and what going to be done about it. Nothing probably.

As for unsklilled work, with unemployment heading towards 1.5 million, there should be no need to import labour.

Good idea, close the thread at a critical time when the transition is being negotiated, when labour are about to flip to SM&CU and when the ERG are trying to blackmail May into a hard brexit.

Mike

That's a rational approach. I'm not sure how this means testing based on skill and not nationality would be implemented.

You are also leaving out religion. Have you seen the Islamophobia on here? You think leavers voted to have 100K muslims arriving here every year?

This thread has been going on for 2 years, enough is enough; time to lock this shit until there are further developments for you all to argue over.

Mods do the business, as you seem quick to lock down other threads but repeated requests for this one get ignored.

Seems 65 Tory MP's have nailed their colours to the Hard Brexit mast if this leaked letter to May is anything to go by. At least it's good to know who they are:

you can get any skilled non Europan into the country incredibly easily.

in fact you can get any non European into the country incredibly easily. it's why our net migration has stayed exactly where it was beige the Tories promised to rescue it.

That would be true after Brexit, but you'd assume that a Scot might be the beneficiary.
