Branded, the EU has nothing to do with our negotiations, it's down to us and the other State to agree terms, regardless if it's higher or lower than the EU's tariffs.

Even when we're long gone from the EU, they will still try and get involved in any way they can.

I'd rather be subject to bent bananas than a bent administration.

There are two sides to every deal. It all depends on what your priorities are.

In order to get a trade deal, there would need to be legal assurances the UK would not undercut the EU, he said, and everyone would have to agree to a "common set of minimum standards" that would have to be "high standards".

Can anyone sensibly think that the UK would be keen to subject themselves to this type of constraint?

Aw, diddums.

pickled's beloved EU ain't calling the shots any more. They're going to HAVE to agree to what the UK asks as equally as the UK will have to agree with their stampy-foot demands.

No deal? No trade. Simples. The UK will source it's imports from further afield.

I'm sure the carbon footprint of a container ship is much smaller than that of thousands of juggernauts pounding the roads of Europe on a daily basis. Win-Win (for those with a trade deal, that is).
