Once the EU has a combined armed service under single control and a functioning single foreign policy, the jackboots are on, next stop, Ukraine.

The British war machine is largely private and manned by a lot of mercenaries. They have joint manoovers and joint invasions and joint bombing raids and have for decades. An EU army is hardly a sinister construct.

Re: EU Referendum 23rd June 2016 declares Cameron
again its not about an EU army - that's just pointless duplicating of NATO control and command structures. Its about streamlining capabilities so that individual EU nations dont have to duplicate resources, allowing more money to be spent on better material.

Is that not totally understandable, or do you want it to remain the fact that any time any shit goes down, Europe has to ask the US to actually do something about it?

And reading your pro-EU article I draw your attention to this -

"Alongside the European Defence Fund (EDF), Military Planning and Conduct Capability (MPCC) and Coordinated Annual Review on Defence (CARD) PESCO forms part of the EU’s ongoing efforts to establish itself as a bona fide global actor by developing – what the EU Global Strategy identifies as – strategic autonomy."

Re: EU Referendum 23rd June 2016 declares Cameron
UK, Denmark and Malta have all declined to be a part of PESCO leaving the other 25 going along with it.

Re: EU Referendum 23rd June 2016 declares Cameron
Despite alarmist voices coming from the fringes of the European political system, the guiding principles behind Permanent Structured Cooperation (PESCO) do not represent a single step toward the utopistic (and largely useless) idea of a unified European military force. PESCO instead represents a clear and present political opportunity for enhanced structural cooperation between like-minded (and ambitious) EU members within the realm of defence policy.

Yes but streamlining is not the same as forming an EU Army.

Is it any surprise that with a US president in hock to Moscow and denying article 5 of NATO that continental europe would look to stremline militaries? Weve been doing it ourselves bilateraly with France for some time.

Back on subject. I watched Daily Politics lunchtime and they were openly discussing the formation of the EU army with a €5bn initial budget and the formation of the USofE together with Poland's call for the return to a Christian identity for the EU....

The Daily Mail journalist there said that had these matters been openly discussed instead of being denied by remainers, the vote to leave would have been much greater. I happen to agree with him. I believe the whole concept of the EU has been one big lie fed to the sheep like population of mainland Europeans.
